Default Going to a road game at the Palace

Ok so its kinda self indulgent to create my own thread over this so I am trying to make it a bit more broad than me. However, I will be attending my first ever Pacers road game New Years Eve at the palace of Auburn Hills.

I know not to pull my old Artest Jersey out of the closet, but I am a little curious about the behavior of Detroit fans. Maybe Kstat can give me some insight. I will also be pretty close to the pacers bench and am wondering how likely it would be to get an autograph before the game. Does anyone Know the Camera policy in Detroit? This thread could also manifest into a general discussion of being a fan in enemy territory. thanks.

I'll be there with BPump, Pacero, and JonnyB83, as well. Can't wait. So, will we be looking for a guy rocking a Troy Murphy jersey?

I just hope you don't end up with the seats that Hicks and I ended up with at the Palace... It was at the top of the arena... The seat actually faced down the stairs, but the kicker was that the hand rail came up to the seat so whomever had to sit in that seat had to straddle the hand rail. Hicks drew the short straw that night.

The only seat I purchased worst than those was behind one of the columns at Lucas Oil.

As for the fans... They were like fans at any other venue that I've been to. Normal!

It'll say O'Brien on the back.

The problem with this kinda cheap shot is the proper response is against forum rules. I have Reggie, Jermaine, Ron, Danny, and Tyler Jerseys in my closet.

I think I will be in section 111. If you guys are close are close, I will stop by(Pacero's hard to miss).

Murphy was grossly overpaid, not a worthless player. I was never a fan of his, but I wasn't a fan of Al Harrignton part 2 either so it was a wash. The fans ran Jackson out of town and we got stuck with Murphleavy. He was never anything more than a place holder waiting to expire.

I have been to the arena several times(concerts, arena football, two pistons games where i was an adopted fan), conseco is much nicer. Just didn't know if I should expect there drunks to be especially hostile due to the brawl. Hell, I normally run into a couple drunk pricks at home games wether its the buck, bulls, or pistons.

I think I am going skiing on an old landfill after the game, seriously.

My parents live up that way, although my moms from Indy and I have never lived outside Indiana.

Re: Autographs / Pictures --- find out when the Palace opens and get there then. You can normally go down by the floor and see the pregame shooting practice and the players will usually sign autographs and pose for pictures if you are wearing Pacer gear. Good luck!

I was wondering if Pistons fans are over the brawl... the Pacers didn't destroy their team so I'm hoping they'll be ok fans.

If not, I will hold up a MagicRat made Artest fathead with the Reggie choke hands around his neck.

I just remember him getting booed at home games. I mostly just saw the booing on TV. I take it Eli Lilly had a big promotional deal with the Pacers or something?

They threatened to pull their sponsorship if Jackson wasn't moved.the fans booed him because of what he was doing off the court.

    Partially true.

He started getting booed before any of that came to light because of his constant yapping at officials and a couple of times he went off on Rick Carlislse when he took him out of a game. It was either his second or third home game he got taken out and he cursed Rick louldy as he went to the bench which did not go over well at all.

But yes, they really started to let him have it once the brawl and off the floor stuff started kicking in.

Yeah the Bloods and Crips keeping it real talk didn't help matters at all.
You know how hippos are made out to be sweet and silly, like big cows, but are actually extremely dangerous and can kill you with stunning brutality? The Pacers are the NBA's hippos....Matt Moore CBS Sports....

I can vouch for this. Jack's yapping turned the crowd against him well before the brawl. If anything when he came back from suspension he was treated better, because people were happy to have another warm body, but it didn't last.

As for the OT, hope you have a good time. I've been to a bunch of NFL and MLB stadiums, but I've never been to an NBA arena outside Indy.

I always thought Jax could've been a big cheese in this town if not for those two things (constantly dragging @ss on defense to yap at the officials and his shenanigans with Rick, who he really liked... perplexing). Those two things are big no-no's for an Indiana crowd, and I'm only speaking to basketball 'play the right way' reasons.

Aside from some questionable shot selection, he played hard, played D (except above) and what stood out quite sorely on that particular team, he played tired and hurt. I think that resounded with a lot of people here.

From the Lily perspective, surprised they didn't try to engineer some sort of Prozac tie-in.
