    Default O'Neal for Kidd?

Would you , or wouldn't you?

Trading JO for Kidd would be just short of insane.

I think I'm like most Pacer fans. I would onlt trade JO straight up for Tim Duncan and Kevin Garnett. Shaq is injured to much.

    Kidd is much older...

Big men are harder to come by than point guards...

Kidd would give us direction, passing and leadership, but not the scoring, defensive post presence or the rebounding that JO brings...

It would leave our frontcourt very weak...

JO would come back to haunt us. ..

And of course, there must be a reason Kidd has been traded so many times...

I'd probably add Lebron to that list, but other than those three I agree, JO is untradeable.

Now Jermaine for Yao and Mark Jackson is a trade I'd do.

Anyway, polished big men are very hard to come by and I would want a big man in return if we traded JO...

No way I'd make this trade. JO is young, becoming a more complete player each day, and will overtime become the face of our franchise.

His ability on both the offensive and defensive ends makes him a complete package. It's great to have point guards, but big men are harder to come by.

    Not in a million years.
Don't ask Marvin Harrison what he did during the bye week. "Batman never told where the Bat Cave is," he explained.

    Hell No!!!

Anyway, you NEVER trade big for small!!!

Has there ever been a trade giving up a big (PF or C) for a small that didn't look like one of the worst deals in NBA History. I also consider the Orlando Magic in this catagory along with the Milwaukee's of the world because they chose to resign Penny and let Shaq walk.

Well, in the early 80's the Pacers needed a backup center. Tom Owens was available. The Pacers traded a draft pick for him, and that draft pick COULD HAVE been used for a pretty successful small-- a guy named Jordan. Of course even had the Pacers kept that pick instead of sending it to Portland, they might have made the Blazer's mistake and take big (Sam Bowie) over small (MJ).
The poster "pacertom" since this forum began (and before!). I changed my name here to "Slick Pinkham" in honor of the imaginary player That Bobby "Slick" Leonard picked late in the 1971 ABA draft (true story!)

Technically, you have a point, but that's an entirely different situation.

Even besides the normal platitudes of big for small and young for old...

Think "loyalty to franchise." Think "not a coach-killer."

Besides, I've always liked Payton more than Kidd.
Welcome to Pacers Digest! New around here? Here are three tips for making the forum a great place to talk about Pacers basketball.

    • Log in. Even if you want to read instead of post, it's helpful because it lets you:
    • Change your signature options. You can hide all signatures by choosing "Settings" (top right) then "General Settings" (middle left) and unchecking the box "Show Signatures" (in the "Thread Display Options" area).
    • Create an ignore list. I know it may seem unneighborly. But you're here to talk about the Pacers, not argue with someone who's just looking for an argument. Most of the regular users on here make use (at least occasionally) of the "Ignore" feature. Just go to "Settings" -> "Edit Ignore List" and add the names.

    Enjoy your time at PD!

I only voted for "I'm a Pacers fan and would not do this trade" because "no way in he!! in this lifetime or the next" wasn't an option.
