    Default The Head Coaches Thread

This is a thread to track fired/hired head coaches.

    So far.
Steve Spagnuolo fired by St. Louis.
    Raheem Morris fired by Tampa.
Jim Caldwell (probably going to be) fired by Indianapolis.
Norv Turner (probably going to be) fired by San Diego.

    Fired/hired this season.
Todd Haley fired by Kansas and replaced with Romeo Crennel (likely to keep the job)
Tony Sparano fired by Miami and replaced with Todd Bowles (likely out)
Jack Del Rio fired by Jacksonville and replaced with Mel Tucker (likely out)

Who I think should be fired.
    Ken Whisenhunt - Arizona
    Pat Shurmur - Cleveland
    Jason Garrett - Dallas
    Leslie Frasier - Minnesota
    Mike Shanahan - Washington

Jeff Fisher wants to coach: Rams, Chargers, Bucs, Colts possible
After a year off, Jeff Fisher is ready to coach again. Multiple reports on this Black Monday in the NFL say that Fisher, who coached the Titans from 1995 (when they were the Houston Oilers) until 2010, wants back in the business. And, no surprise, the reports say Fisher wants to coach a team with…

I see him choosing San Diego. They have the best team and they're a veteran team.

I could see Fisher ending up with the Bucs, I'd like him to come to the Colts though.

    Dan Snyder, is that you?

Shannahan took over a team that had a screwed up culture, a moron for a GM, and no talent.

He needs more then 2 years to turn that around.

Philly absolutely should fire Reid, should have fired him last year IMO but Vick saved his behind.

I think Whisenhunt has done a fantastic job in Arizona. No reason he should be fired. That team was what, 8-8 this year? 7-9? That's with a crappy quarterback play too.

Agreed. Quietly one of the better coaching jobs of the season. Especially after they got off to a craptastic start.

Had the Eagles not finished strong they probably would've.

Yeah I remember thinking they would be in the Andrew Luck sweepstakes for awhile. I was amazed when I saw them hovering around .500.

Switching over to Skelton I think saved his job.

I don't think they would have fired him regardless, honestly. Kolb was a fail though. Arizona needs a QB. They won't ever be better than 9-7 with that craptastic duo.

    Nope.

I hate that organization for what they did to Brees, but I'm really starting to feel sorry for their fans.

He is going to want total control, but that could be a good thing.

As to the football --it wouldn't be fancy, it wouldn't be shiny, but I think you would wind up with a good team in 2-3 years. I know that nobody wants to hear that you need to wait 2-3 years, but with as many free agents as the Colts have, with as much money as will be (presumably) tied up by quarterbacks, and with a coach & GM bringing in a whole new philosophy and schemes both on defense and likely on offense as well, some patience will be in order.

I mean, with Cowher you have to think he prefers what he had in Pittburgh- 3-4 defense based upon size up front and playmaking linebackers, ball-control offense with tough inside running and some road grader O linemen. To get what he wants just personnel-wise requires multiple good drafts and some free agent success.

The caveat is that the AFC South is suddenly pretty weak, so you could see some progress even early in the remaking of the roster.
