Default Available Centers as of 12/15

I think most would agree that we need a b/u 5...if none of the TC invites cuts it, here is what is available. Sort of an underwhelming list, but probably many of these players are cheap and satisfactory as 3rd stringers...

Would love to see Dalembert brought in to play behind Hibbert. When you need a better defensive big, you can plug him into the game. I think he'd be a great fit to be honest. As for Ryan Hollins, I'd like that as well.

Couple guys you can cross off already, seeing as Big Z and Shaq retired and the Bobcats signed Ely.

Of the guys on that list that we could get for the minimum (which I would like to think is just about all of them) I would probably lean towards Jason Collins.

correct me if I'm wrong, but I think he got amnestied, so teams have to bid on him, with the highest bid getting him; if no one bids, he is a FA.

Dalembert's not coming here to be our third string center. All we need is a warm durable body who can defend competently and rebound.

Jason Smith might be a pretty decent option, and he'd come cheap, too. I wouldn't mind us taking a chance on him.

^^I think Gray got a decent size contract, forget with who

^5 Is Jason Collins the better twin? One of them is decent, but the other one is really quite bad.

Jason Collins re-signed with the Hawks a few days ago, but yes, he's the better one that's actually a respectable defender.

The Pacers should hold walk-on tryouts. Surely somebody out there would be capable of playing.

Or, maybe the Lakers would be willing to trade Josh for a combination of Rush / Pendergraph / and a 1st round pick? Kobe could use yet another Pacer to take pressure off of him by spacing the court.

I see no one in that list that's interesting. Dampier at least looks like a C. Maybe he could clog the lane for a 5 or 10 mpg. That's all we really want.

Dampier like Redd would be a max 1 year 1-2 mil contract.

I believe Arron Gray signed with Raptors.

Dalembert. But I figure he's got to want more minutes than what he'd get here.

Sam averaged 24 minutes last year. Roy averaged 27 minutes last year.
I think it would work great and Foster can play where needed due to foul, injury, illness situations. Sam would dominate 2nd units. Would be a Great advantage for the Pacers.

If we are going for a small minute/patch in when foul trouble I like Theo Ratliff, Dampier or Joe Smith.

Thumbs up Re: Available Centers as of 12/15

There are some fossils on that list...sheesh. There's gotta be some hungry D-Leaguer that would play like a bull in a china shop for a few minutes next to Tyler.

Let's bid on Thabeet (as long as its reasonable)
"So, which one of you guys is going to come in second?" - Larry Bird before the 3 point contest. He won.

If not Collins, I'd prefer Ratliff. He is still a shotblocker when he gets the minutes.
