Default How will West/*enter sg here* effect George?

I'm kinda worried that adding all these high volume shooters might stunt George's growth. I really don't want to see him defer to the other guys, I wanna see him step up and take on the role of a go-to player.

Don't get me wrong, I openly welcome West and whoever else joins(not big Crawford fan), but I don't wanna see them holding George back either.

    I don't think he'll be held back.

If nothing else, those guys will take the pressure off of him and get him better looks since they're focused on stopping West/Granger/whoever else.

Though I'm not against him deferring either. He is a REALLY good passer, and can set up those guys in good positions as well.
Stop quoting people I have on ignore!

I don't think that is something that should really be worried about. If Paul George really has it in him, he will develop just fine. Remember after Rush's rookie year when he lit it up down the stretch, everyone wanted him starting and Dunleavy gone because he was stunting his growth. Fast forward to present, everyone is wanting Rush gone.

I doubt he'll be held back, I expect him to be our starting 2-guard and play
    30 minutes a game

FRACK!!! I want to win!!!!!! Who cares if he gets less than starter minutes. It seems everyone will in the 66 games in 70 days.

Do we have to complain about everything?

This is what I'm seeing as well. He will probably get around 20 at the 2 and another 10 backing up Danny at SF. I think this will allow PG to grow naturally, rather than be forced to be a big part of the offense.

Well, it could be Collison who loses the minutes if George Hill is our starting Point guard, but certainly if we add another Shooting guard, either the shooting guard, Hill, George, or Collison will lose them..and I don't really expect it to be Hill..

I love that we are forcing him to play SG when he's 6-10!

Forcing? PG has said that he sees himself as a 2 guard.

I just remember all the complaining about McRoberts, Rush, Hibbert, Rawle Marshal, AJ Price, etc not getting what people thought they deserved. It was loud.

I jumped the gun and responded to the title before reading the OP. Sorry. But make no stink people will be moaning before the end of the week.

He can defend SGs pretty well, why shouldn't he? Imagine if he had better post moves. Or any post moves at all. It'd be a nightmare to deal with him. Granger is already though to guard with smaller guys with his jumper off the dribble. Complicated combo to defend.

George needs to focus on hitting spot-up jumpers for the time being, but adding a few post moves would be formidable for him going forward.

I think that keeping a reasonably low usage rate will help George more than hurt. Don't force him to be all over the place.

Kobe didn't let Shaq and Eddie Jones stunt his growth.
T-Mac didn't let Vince Carter stunt his growth (though he didnt truly blow up until he moved to the Magic)

Bottom line..the only thing that can stop PG24 from being great is Paul George.

he said working on his post game was his main focus this off season. He said he worked hard on his mid post moves and some low post moves.

What was Kobe's usage rate as a rookie or sophomore any body know?

Paul George isn't like Kobe though.

Paul George is a complacent "Do what's best for the team" rookie/sophomore. He's incredibly talented, and he showed last season he could make big shots. He's got the potential to be something special.

Kobe wants to win because he wants to go down as individually one of the best players ever. I like Bryant, but he's selfish. Sometimes that's good, sometimes that's bad.

George wouldn't make a fuss if the coaching staff decided that we'd win more now with Mayo/Hill taking more of George's minutes because they are better players now. Good for team chemistry, good for team performance..not necessarily best for George.

And you don't have to be like Kobe to be great. The best and most winningest player I've ever watched would give up shot attempts/minutes/starting position without a fuss, in a heartbeat, for the sake of the team.
