Josh has signed with the Lakers, according to JMV....
That hurts. Looks like it's Crawford or bust.

I never understood why the Grizzlies wanted to trade Mayo - I think he is very good and he was important for them last year in the playoffs.

Wished we could have gotten hoim, I think he is better than most think.

because they cant afford to keep him next year. I still think he gets dealt sooner or later probably at the deadline.

I wouldn't be surprised if we attempt to sign Mayo straight-up when he becomes a FA.

Assuming, of course, that we don't pry EJ away from the Clippers, first.

I doubt it, especially if we end up getting Crawford, too high a cost as a FA, too much depth at that position.

Crawford has an "out" after this season if he accepts the deal on the table, presumably.

I think the exact opposite. I think he's a very average SG who's extremely overrated due to his high school hype. At one point he was receiving a near LeBron-level of hype. Look at how much Memphis improved this past season with Mayo going from one of their top scorers to a 27 mpg backup. I don't think that's a coincidence.

He was supossed to replace Mayo.

How bad an injury does he have?

Wouldn't Rush been able to take his place?

I'm getting the sense that if this trade would have happened McBob was only going to get around 2.5 mil. If McBob wanted more, then Rush couldn't be part of the deal. Are we sure, McBob wanting more $$ wasn't a sticking point? I understand Memphis not wanting Rush with the wings they have, but at the same time "any added player" was going to take money out of McBob's pocket. I'll be interested in what McBob signs for when he does sign a contract, and who the team will be.

I'm not in the least bit upset this trade didn't get done. To me, I'd rather give some minutes to Stephenson to truly see if he's "Born Ready", or if that's just all hype.

Nor do I care if the Pacers sign Crawford. Let's look for another b/u Center, and call it an off season.

Henry is going to be out for a month and it doesn't look like Memphis really wanted Rush.

I am not happy right now.

This deal is such a tease.

I think it's the kid from Space Jam. The picture's probably from some "Where Are They Now?" feature at People.com.

Just **** or get off the pot already Larry.
The thing is ... Is I honestly don't believe Larry is the holdup..

It's the players waiting till last minute to decide their fate...

I mean on one hand I want things to get done ASAP, but on the other I cannot fault the players for wanting to be absolutely sure on where they want to go... The players and GM's doing the trades have alot of considerations to take into account..

I'd rather be sure on who we are getting, than to do a deal, just to do a deal...
    .
    .
    .

I love J Craw's game and what he could bring to this team.. The only factors that I am personally taking into consideration is his age, interest coming here, and his role on the team... I would love to have him...

BUT I also really really like Mayo a great deal ...
He is young and obviously very very talented... I don't believe the surface has even been scratched with is potential.. In the right circumstances I believe he could easily be a player that could blossom into a top 15 SG or better...

As far as potential goes , he absolutely has all-star potential ..
Which is why I would much rather have Mayo going forward..
To me , Crawford is the kind of player a contender would sign to take them to the next level..

Either way we go, we are getting a very good and important player to add to our team ..

Mayo is the type of player who could develop into a franchise player.. I've said that since he was drafted.. And early on, he looked like that kinda player.. He just had a few setbacks, and got pushed down Memphis' pecking order..

I personally feel we should be pushing much harder to get Mayo, IMO he is one of those special players that will make some team very happy when his potential becomes reality...

Plumlee reminds me of a young Dale Davis. Good rebounding and he contests shots well on defense and his offensive game is very raw just like DD's was coming out of college.

If Bird likes Mayo as much as it seems, then I think he'll try something else soon.

That is, if we don't get Crawford.

They're not going to give us Mayo just so we can absorb his salary and we have nothing left to trade. Deal's dead, unfortunately.

Does this mean I never have to hear the name OJ Mayo in the same sentence as Pacers ever again?

Only when they play. "Paul George of the Indiana Pacers posterized OJ Mayo" or "OJ Mayo lights up the Pacers for 30 points."
