    Default Marc Gasol to Houston?

    WojYahooNBA Adrian Wojnarowski
The Rockets are working to sign Marc Gasol to a 4 year, $55M offer sheet, sources tell Y! Memphis would have 3 days to match, or lose him.

Put up or shut up Memphis. And then give us Mayo.

Yao Ming retiring really help Houston get cap room.

Crap. I still held out some hope for a big who can defend. Maybe next lockout...

It was always expected Gasol would get the max. This just guarantees it.

They will match. There was other tweet mentioning a sign and trade, but that would surprise me.

If Houston and Memphis are negotiating S&T it's because Gasol is trying to get out and Griz are relenting.

Memphis wouldn't blink before accepting that. Great price for Gasol.

If Memphis is willing to trade Gasol, I wonder what they'd be interested from the Pacers for Gasol?

Maybe a 3 way trade with the Pacers where the Pacers could get Scola.

I think we'll wind up getting him in the end.

They want Josh, we want O.J.

Both were willing to do it at the deadline, but time ran out.

They'll have over $50 mill tied up in just 4 players if they match it. I think it's a no-brainer that Memphis will match this and try to free up cap space through salary dump trades like OJ Mayo for a lesser priced player.

That Rudy Gay contract was ridiculous. I'm guessing they wish they could have a do over right now.

    Eh....the Grizzlies will match.

Funny how...in the span of 2 days....the Pacers went from being a Team with Capspace and some needs and not being able to get anything...to a Team with something....and the Rockets went from a Team gutting their roster for Pau Gasol to a Team ending up with next to nothing.
Ash from Army of Darkness: Good...Bad...I'm the guy with the gun.

This is David West, he is the Honey Badger, West just doesn't give a *****....he's pretty bad *ss cuz he has no regard for any other Player or Team whatsoever.

If Memphis matches, it will put them at 61.1 million in salary this year. What's the tax this year, and how close are they? I believe they still need to fill 3 roster spots.

If by "having balls" you mean throwing millions after millions in a max contract for a 12 and 7 center and throwing any hopes of contending in the garbage, then I'm happy that we don't have any.

That's not a max offer it's only 13.75 mil per year average, we're offering more then that for Nene.

The max differs for players depending on how long they have been in the league. I think that is the max that Houston can offer. Anyone know for sure?

The max is dependent upon how many years you've been in the league. Nene has been in the NBA longer.

Yes, but if they let Gasol go, the trade dies.

Reason 1- Houston is trading back a big that Memphis likes.
Reason 2- if reason 1 doesn't work, they can sign Josh outright without having to lose Mayo.

Plus, what if the grizz take all 3 days to match, while in the meantime all of houston's other free agent targets have already signed elsewhere?

    $70.3 million

I have them at $67 million for 11 players.

    Randolph: 15.2 / 16.5 / 17.8. / 16.5
    Gay: 15.0 / 16.5 /17.9 / 19.3
    Gasol: 13.7 / 13.7 / 13.7 / 13.7
    Conley: 6.6 / 7.3 / 8.0 / 8.7 / 9.4

    Pricey core.

How did the Rockets get enough cap room to make a max offer to Gasol? They're about $8m under the cap when factoring rookies and cap holds. That's not enough.

Or is Thabeet getting the amnesty assumed?
