Default Who/what would you give up for Nash?

He's on the last year of his deal and 38 years old. I will be very surprised if the suns don't trade him before the deadline. Nash is obviously still more than capable as he lead the league in assists last year. My question is, how much do you think he could help the Pacers and what would you give for him? The suns have to know they won't get as much for him as they want and they'll likely loose him for nothing next season. I think Nash could be had for a very reasonable price. Would he stay here longer than this year? I doubt it. But hey, even more cap space for us next summer.

nothing....wait it out with DC/GH and see if they work out....if we really want to test drive Nash with some 2 year contract...then try to do it as a UFA.

If the front office is absolutely certain that Lance, Hill, or both, are superior PG prospects than Collison, I would offer up Collison, Rush, and 2nd rounders/cash.

If we secure Nene, Nash could really help us make a run in the East for a year or two. He would help the Pacers financially by increasing our attendance and garnering more interest in the team. He's an expiring contract, so he doesn't hamper our flexibility, and he would be an excellent mentor to Lance and Hill.

I like Collison, but I don't see him as a starting PG on a contender. I see Hill and Lance possibly having that potential and at worst, the same ceiling as Collison (great backups). I would rather cash in on Collison for a piece that can help us now. Nash and Rondo would be my targets. DC's value has to be pretty high right now.

I'd rather just wait till next year and sign him and another high level free agent.

Nothing, as good as he is he is almost 40. We need to be looking for longer term solutions, so we aren't left out to dry in two years with just a bunch of back-up PGs.

That sounds pretty good to me. While Nash is very limited defensively he would be a big asset on the offensive end, and hell his defense is no worse than Dunleavy.

Id give them the Troy Murphy unit of value: a bag of peanuts.

Have faith people, DC is 23 years old (maybe). Nash is 38..

Depends on who else we get in free agency.

Posey and either Price, Collison, Hans, Rush, Hill, Lance or any combination of 2. they'd laugh though.

I probably wouldn't take Nash at 38, despite the fact that he is healthy and still performs at a high level.

However, if you wanted to talk about Kirk Heinrich, who is much more reasonably priced, that's a different story.

Collison and a first (likely 15-20 at "best" if you get Nash).

Look, I know "the future", but the team is now loaded with that. Nash is that vet that stirs the drink and takes a team over the top. You've got Hill to absorb the minutes, Nash is a health freak, and the entire team needs a guy to get the offense running in a NORMAL healthy method after 4 years of JOB. I like Frank V, but Nash on the court would have a much bigger impact in showing guys how an offense is supposed to run.

Yes, Nash is gone in a couple of years just like Byron Scott (or Mullin) was, but by the time Scott was done so was his work here, the team had pushed over the hump into "oh, that's how you compete for a title" mode.

You'll have Hill, Granger, George, Tyler, and Roy having just spent 2-3 seasons winning with Nash involved. By then they'll be ready to push on without him and you'll have space for other guys to add as well. Heck, maybe you've signed Eric Gordon next year if not a West/Nene this year.

Nothing...his back is messed. He only has a year or 2 left in him max.

I would not trade our young assets for a player who will give us one year

It'll be 2012, not 2006, so no thanks AFAIC. Love(d) him as a player in his day, but that is soon coming to an end; we'd just be his victory lap for his career. Not worth giving up pieces for unless for some bizarre reason it looked like a "good enough to win the title" move for 1-2 years. I'm not assuming that, I guess.

    Noone of consequence whatsoever.

THe man is a marvel, but father time catches up to everyone.

I wouldn't give up assets for him. He deserves to ring chase.

Its basically a one year rental. Even if he wanted to stay, who says he has anything left in the tank a season from now?

I think giving any more than a 1st round pick is a mistake. In fact, giving a 1st round pick is very questionable.

Although a 1 year rental of Nash would be sort of awesome, not sure its the smartest move going forward.

I would say 2 2nd rounders and Posey. He cannot hide from father time too much longer. Age catches us all eventually.

I could see him going to Toronto to end his career given that Nash is a Canadian
