What's the max for Gasol? Is it the same as for Nene?

I don't see why Roy couldn't possibly play behind Gasol. And occassionally you could play them together for inside scoring.

Gasol is a guy whose stats like points and rebounds were definitely impacted by playing between Rudy Gay and Zach Randolph. I would say he has a great chance to bloom into a 15 and 10 with good percentages guy on a team like the Pacers.

OK, I think Gasol more than most you cannot judge him on stats. Gasol impacts a team's ability to win in a very positive way

Plus like I said, he played in a front court with two very high usage guys, who were also good rebounders for their positions.

Marc Gasol is rugged ... a tandem of him and Tyler will be abusive.

I am on board with trying to sign Gasol. What worries me is all of the talk of trading Roy. I have seen people in other threads talking about Roy improving and working hard in the offseason.
What happens if we sign Gasol and trade Roy and Roy turns into a beast this year?

Um...why can't we have Gasol and Hibbert? Bird talks about building a strong bench, why can't Roy come off the bench? He has 1 year left on his deal, if he doesn't like that, he could easily go somewhere else and then we have Gasol.

I haven't seen much of Gasol, but I don't think either one of them has warranted a guaranteed starting spot, we could easily switch it up if we wanted to go with the hot hand.

Hibbert will be a beast this year. That is why we aren't going to trade him.

Gasol will slide over to C when needed. I think these two could co-exist. We will be so much better in the half-court with both, that I think it is a great idea. It is very similar to Nene. Same idea. PF/C.

    Commercial Appeal (cagrizblog) on Twitter

    CAGrizBlog Commercial Appeal
@memphisjq Gasol to Indy won't happen. Griz not in "tough spot." They can and will easily sign him. Consider the source on that bad rumor.
His response comes across as somewhat emotional to me, like he's upset over the rumor.

As for it not putting the Grizzlies in a "tough spot," they have between $32M and $38M tied into just two players (Z-Bo and Gay) over the next four seasons, so I don't know about paying Marc Gasol $13-17M per-season not putting them in a bad place. They're a small market team, and their owner has a middle-of-the-pack net-worth ($1.5B).

Are you really comparing Chris Andersen and Kenyon Martin to Rudy Gay and Zach Randolph? Do you REALLY want to go there?

Do you REALLY want to address the fact that Nene is 4 years older than Marc Gasol? Or are you just trolling?

I watched all of the Grizzlies playoff games last year and IMO Gasol was their most valuable player. he's the type of player that when he goes to the bench you wonder why the team isn't playing as well (and you then realize it is because gasol is not in the game). Gasol IMO was their glue last season - he made his teammates better. Grizzlies will not give him up without a fight

    Why?

    I got out of this:

"I don't want to spend money on a player I don't like and here's why..."
"I am willing to spend money on a player I like and here's why..."

You may not agree with the reasons, but it isn't fair to insinuate they don't exist.

Not to mention he insinuates that I don't like Nene as a player which I have NEVER said.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned or not - I'm at work and don't have time to read all the replies - but maybe the plan is to talk Memphis into a sign-and-trade deal of Gasol for Hibbert.

I could definitely see this happening under this scenario and at least Memphis would get a solid and likeable center in return.

Larry is not coming back, he didn't have a meeting with Orlando for not reason, yeah he is coming back to the NBA but not to the Pacers, the notion that he is a taking a year off and then come back is absurd.

I heard that same thing about Hibbert last year, we started the season trying to run a lot of offense through him and at time it took hours for him to figure out which combination of post moves he wanted to put together. I hope for his sake and ours that he improves.

He will always be a shot blocker though

Actually, they're only a little over two-years apart.

    Nene D.O.B.: September 13, 1982
    Marc D.O.B.: January 29, 1985

2 years, 4 months, and 17 days, to be exact.
