Thread: Marc Gasol?

I love Roy but I'm open to signing Gasol and trading Roy. That's a legit way to improve your team, sign a free agent that upgrades a position and then trade the incumbent.

Signing Gasol gives us a valuable trading chip (Hibbert).

We could ship Roy and Collison to New Orleans in the rumored 3-way trade to land Rondo.

Could they play well together? They are both great passers. No I take that back, Gasol is a great passer, Roy is very good. Offensively they would be fine together. I would worry about defense. But I suppose they could play together around 25 minutes a game and we could always have one or the other on the court at all times.

And yes I think Gasol is better than Roy.

No thanks to helping the Knicks and no thanks to Rondo.

Gasol would be my #1 target in free agency if I was the Pacers. It's not like we have a roster full of centers... Roy has been great for us but Gasol is definitely top-5 in the league at his position.

I understand those that are loyal to Roy but to be honest, I don't see his ceiling as being any higher than Gasol's. Plus, if the Clippers happen to lose out on resigning DeAndre Jordan...

    Hibbert for Gordon?
Not top 5, top 10 probably, as far as his efficiency rating per 48 min he ranks like 22 or something http://www.hoopsstats.com/basketball...s/11/6/eff/1-3

And with just min played he ranks 12th I think.
Some off the top of my head would be Howard, Noah, NeNe, Bynum, Jefferson, Horford, Chandler...
    Why so SERIOUS

Well Gasol and Bynum on the Lakers did. Now if we can get a Kobe-like 2 guard, we'd be money.

    Sign Gasol.

Send DC, BRush, and a number 1 to Utah for Milsap.

If we don't keep Roy as backup (which he would be better suited for IMO), send him away for another 6th-8th man or a pick.

Hill, George, Danny, Milsap, Gasol. That team wins games.

Isn't that where Gordon fits into the equation?

I don't think we should wait for another year or 2 until he becomes a free agent. Besides, I'd rather have Monta than EG. Monta can get to the hoop whenever he wants. And go off for 40 on some nights.

Another factor is that Bird may be wanting to stick it to Memphis for spilling the beans on the Mayo trade. No better way then by bidding up Gasol.

Howard and Horford I agree on, but I don't see any of those guys as being measurably better than Gasol. Noah is possibly the most overrated center in the league, Nene isn't the defender Gasol is, Bynum has rocks in his head and can't stay off the trainer's table, Jefferson isn't really a center, and Chandler has no offensive game.

And I love Tyson Chandler... but he's no Marc Gasol.

Gasol is really good IMO he was as big a reason why the Grizzlies made it to the Western Semi-finals as any player on that team.
From what I have read....one of the main reasons is because ZBo was finally surrounded by a Starting lineup of Defensive minded Players...which essentially allowed ZBo to score and focus on offense while the rest of his teammates in the starting lineup....Tony Allen/Battier/Marc...focused on covering ZBo's defensive liabilities.
Ash from Army of Darkness: Good...Bad...I'm the guy with the gun.

This is David West, he is the Honey Badger, West just doesn't give a *****....he's pretty bad *ss cuz he has no regard for any other Player or Team whatsoever.

I'm trying to talk myself into it.

    Gasol 32 mins
    Roy 30 mins
    Tyler 27
    Jeff 7

    Ya, I just don't know...

    PF
    27 Tyler
    7 Jeff
    14 Gasol
    48

    Center
    30 Roy
    18 Gasol
    48

Its looks okay on paper, but then when you have to play guys together on the floor, its tough.

It seems like, if they try this, they are completely building to try to match up with Chicago moving forward (also getting George Hill). I think this would actually work against the Bulls, not sure about the rest of the league.

Gordon still hasnt reached his potential and he can actually defend... I pass on Monta every time.

    DC/Hill/Lance
    Gordon/Hill/George
    Granger/George
    Josh Smith/Hansbrah
    Gasol/Fiesty/(Rookie)

Yeah that team wins games. The Jazz would be stupid to do that deal if you ask me, but if they agree to it, great.

Dan Wolken: Heard from a source the Pacers could be making a huge play for Marc Gasol. Could put Griz in tough spot. Twitter

Iím told, for example, that Indiana -- one team that really hasnít been mentioned as a potential suitor for the Spaniard -- rates Gasol above Nene and is strongly weighing whether to slap an offer sheet down for him. ESPN.com
Payback for the botched Mayo deal? lol

So can EJ but EJ has a ridiculously high IQ so he plays much smarter than Monta.

who ever said trade Hibbert for an 8th man must be on crack.

Here's an article I found on Grizzlies Online. It's from a Spanish website and translated into English:

Marc Gasol: $9 million or returns to Europe

Of all the free agent possibilities Gasol has me the most excited. (Millsap isn't a free agent) Nene or West just don't excite me too much

Front-load the offer. I think it's hard to argue against the youngest difference-making big man on the market. Worry about fit later on, maybe.

I was looking at his regular season number... not as impressive as I had thought. He was a complete beast in the playoffs though. Smart player.

Another day, another exciting Pacer rumor. By the time FA is done, how many players will have been to the Pacers do you think?

I watched all of the Grizzlies playoff games last year and IMO Gasol was their most valuable player. he's the type of player that when he goes to the bench you wonder why the team isn't playing as well (and you then realize it is because gasol is not in the game). Gasol IMO was their glue last season - he made his teammates better. Grizzlies will not give him up without a fight

    Can't judge him on stats.
