    Roy is a better offensive player . . . when he's on.

Dalembert is a better rebounder and defender.
I'd rather have the better rebounder and defender. Then you could have turned Hibbert into Josh Smith. Our defense would be as smothering as the Bulls.

I like Hibbert, but I just think he's a big softy.
Lance + Starting SG = Awesome

    Now really free Lance!

I've never been a fan of Dalembert. He just doesn't to make much impact despite his solid numbers. He's not highly thought of by GMs either apparently - in the offseason of the overpaid center, he could only muster a contract that's slightly above Kwame's. And in my mind, that's as it should be.

Hibbert has continued to disappoint, true, but I can't imagine us starting Daly in front of him. He's just not very good.

Again the rumor is that he is overweight and out of shape, reason why it took Houston so long to offer him a contract.

I tend to more on the SD > RH right now side of this, but had we acquired him, I'd have had no issue with SD off the bench. The most important things is SD would have provided exactly the ingredient we're missing - toughness, excellent rebounding, interior D, shot blocking.
    Missed this the first time.

The Kings wanted those things too - toughness, rebounding, interior D - so they went out and signed 6'6'' Chuck Hayes. Dalembert was their own free agent remember, so that's pretty telling. And when they thought Hayes couldn't play because of a heart condition, they still didn't offer a contract to Dalembert.

    Yeah, and that too.

There are things I wish we had done this offseason, but signing Daly is definitely not one of them.

He is known to have a bad attitude and he doesn't like to practice. I think he picked that bad trait from Iverson when they were teammates. I'm only half kidding.

He got kicked off the Canadian national team because of his bad attitude / poor work ethic. I think that's why he didn't receive any offers other than from Houston.

Dalembert is a classic example of an under-achiever. He is truly NBA fool's gold.

In situations like that, it probably wasn't as easy as "here's the money, take it." Dalembert surely wanted a good situation for him which he would get guaranteed minutes and a starting position, both of which were available to him in Houston. Here, if you make that signing, you run the risk of rubbing Roy the wrong way, you run the risk of Dalembert not adapting to his role, etc.
I could care less if Hibbert gets rubbed the wrong when it's a good positive move for the team! If Hibbert feelings are so delicate that the Pacers don't dare do anything to upset him when a move is to the positive of the team, then why do you need such a weak player in the 1st place? It's looking more and more the words pressure and Hibbert should never be used in the same sentence. It's great that he trains hard, a good teammate, good for Pacers PR, and etc; but if he can't produce when it's needed, on a consistant basis, he's not the asset he needs to be for the Pacers. It's what's best for the team, not what is best for him.

The optimum word is WHEN in the "when he's on."

Dalembert doesn't even enjoy playing basketball, he was just forced into it for being so tall and the easy money.

Didn't he start playing at 17 or something?

That's my point: It might not have been positive for the team. It might have created a locker room dynamic that would have disrupted the harmony on the team. We saw last year how much locker room issues can quickly spill out onto the court. Why run that risk? Dalembert wouldn't have been a difference maker for this team. Signing him would have taken an extra roster spot and a healthy chunk of our cap space, which would have limited our room to maneuver during the season. If we were to give up on that, I would want the situation to be a slam dunk (no pun intended). Dalembert does not qualify.

Surprise, surprise....another team....another extension.....he has barely played a few games in his new uniform and he has asked for yet another need for an extension.....when he still has 2 years in his contract.

Stephen Jackson Seeking Extension, Vows Not To Be A Distraction

    Dec 23, 2011 10:14 AM EST

Stephen Jackson, whom the Bucks are hoping will be a key cog in their quest to return to the NBA playoffs, said he's putting his contract extension request on hold.

"I'm going to go ahead and let it die down," Jackson said. "Right now, I know it's not the time to talk about contracts or anything like that. It's about focusing on getting to the playoffs."

Jackson, 33, will be paid $9.2 million this season and $10 million next season. He reportedly wants a two- to three-year extension.

"This is probably the last time I'm going to address it," Jackson said about his contract situation. "We'll see how this plays out.It would be good to finish up here, I'll tell you that. I love it here.

"Like they say, ‘You play good, they pay good.'"

    From Alex Kennedy's Twitter:

The Miami Heat have waived Eddie House. Eddy Curry, Mickell Gladness and Terrel Harris made the final roster.
Also, I've seen that the Thunder plan on buying out the contract of Nate Robinson.

Yep the rumor is true, Dalembert is out of shape, reason why he didn't get many offers.

    @Jonathan_Feigen
Jonathan Feigen McHale definitely thought Dalembert would be available today. Talked about checking out his fitness, adding pre-, post-practice work.

Doesn't matter, Pietrus has been a player with a whole lot of Fluff and no real production his whole career.
