Curious to see what he got. The potential for an overpay is there, certainly.
I thought it was for one year around $6 million. Not for sure though.

Yep, one year deal worth 9 mil. Not bad since it's just one year.

Great deal for Boston. I didn't believe it was possible to sign him to a 1 year deal. Preserves the cap next off-season and the ability to trade him this one.
I think he was willing to sacrifice a long-term contract so that he could stay in Boston. It seems like he really wants to play there.

Personally I don't like the idea of Bynum and Hibbert playing together (a very unlikely scenario in any case).

Gasol + Bynum works for the Lakers because they have a very mobile big like Odom playing 32 minutes per game at the 4. Odom is essential to make that rotation work. Without him, they'd be killed by the mismatches other teams would be able to create. The only way you can keep Gasol and Bynum together on the floor for 30 minutes in a game is if the other team doesn't have the weapons - in terms of quickness and offensive range - to take advantage of it. Gasol and Bynum is the Lakers secondary frontcourt line-up, not the primary one. Just too much slowness to make it work consistently.

So, at the very least you'd need a 3rd big with the quality and the traits of Odom.

But Pau Gasol has a bit more range, defensively and offensively, than Hibbert. So, I'd be highly skeptical that it would work even for the 15mpg or so that Gasol and Bynum play together in LA.

    Yep.

That's why (i'm really opposed to Bynum unless he was stolen, but just hypothetically I'm writing this) I think it'd actually work with Hands Bro being relied upon to play heavy minutes. Than you adjust to matchups you face. Pacers could win a lot a games that way, but not really a good long term solution, and regardless, Bynum is injury prone so he really can't be counted on no matter what his role is.

Edit- I'm not necessarily equating Hands Bro to Odom as much as I'm saying he'd be better at matching up against the smaller quicker power fowards...

I don't really understand his reasoning. I think it's a bad decision for him. Play for 20 mpg or so behind Allen and Pierce. It won't do anything for his value. Maybe he figures Doc will limit the minutes/games the starters will play because of the compressed season. Could it be he was promised that? Perhaps he'll get to start a few games. Otherwise, it doesn't make much sense for him.

Since it appears no FA wants to come to Indy , question to KSTAT, how much would be too much to make an offer to Rodney Stuckey?

I know that he's a RFA...but I thought that I just read some rumblings about some friction between Stuckey and the Pistons. I'd do a S&T involving Collison IF Stuckey could be had for $10-11 mil a year.

my personal limit for Stuckey is $7 million. A sign and trade would work as well, as would him just taking the 1 year QO and playing for a pay raise this season.

I'd also rather have nothing than Collison. No offense, I've had enough of Will Bynum to stomach another PG that can't guard his own shadow. I'm very happy with Brandon Knight.

Even if we take Stuckey back, he'll be installed as the starting SG (where IMO he belongs), or the 3rd guard.

That's fair...I was only suggesting Collison as a backup PG.

Although you think that $7 mil for Stuckey is all that you'd pay....what do you think would be the limit of how much the FO would be willing to not Match?

I'm not really sure. I think Joe might go as high as $8 million, but nobody in their right mind is going to break the bank for Stuckey after his attitude last year. It's not something I'm concerned about.

The best scenario for both parties might be for him to take the QO and start fresh without the drama. If he leaves next year, we'll always have more cap room.

Not ready to hand over the reigns to Brandon Knight yet?

better in the sense that anything is better than nothing maybe. but bibby's only NBA skill now is shooting the 3. other than that, he belongs in a rec league.

When did I imply that? I'd like Stuckey back, but as the off-guard. he can't run an offense.

Knight should be thrown into the fire right away. No point in playing it safe.

Chandler is a free agent. They weren't going to give up much for him in any sign and trade deal.

Ah right, now that deer season is over it's point guard season again in Minnesota, heh?

I thought the Knicks signed Chandler to a fortune.

Also, Mike Bibby was a good signing for them. He'll do well under D'Antoni.

I don't see anyway they can pull that off.
Nene is still there and we're in play for him. What's with the eternal pessimism on this board. Every other post I read is that no free agent will ever want to come to Indiana. BULL!
