I am not a fan of losing DC but if we get our answer at PF I can live with it.

If we add George Hill (A very good sixth man/decent starter that has youth) and Paul Milsap (An above average power forward who gets on the glass and is still young) to the team while only losing DC, Rush, and a couple of picks, that is a huge win for this offseason. We'd still have tons of cap space and a kick-*** free agent class coming up in the summer. Granger, Milsap, Hill, George, Hibbert, Lance and Hansbrough is a good core with all kinds of potential, and we have so much time and money to make moves for the future.

Hill and Roy both need extensions after this season. Capspace gone.

Not true at all. Once extended, Hibbert and Hill will likely combine for around $15M per year in salary. We are $21M under the cap today ($58M cap vs $37M in salary). That doesn't even account for the fact that Posey, Rush, Hibbert, and Hill are expiring off our cap next year for over $15M in combined salary in addition to the $21M we have now. We could also amnesty Dhantay to add $3M more.

Lets say we move Rush/Collison for Millsap's $7M deal and amnesty Dhantay. Our committed cap for the following year is still only around $30M. Resigning Hibbert/Hill at $15M would still leave us $12-15M under the cap for FA. We could still sign a big name to reach the $58M cap and have $12M left under the tax ($70M) to resign guys like Hansbrough, Lance, etc.

In another scenario, we could hold out on extending them and let them enter the market restricted. That would leave us $30M of cap space to spend in FA and then we could go over the cap to resign Hibbert/Hill or match any pending offers they receive. We can over the cap to sign our own players, just not other players in FA (Bird rights). This scenario would be risky though when Hansbrough is up b/c we would have little room to resign him under the tax. Paul George will always be ok b/c his new deal aligns with Danny's expiring. Regardless, I can't see us ever spending $30M in FA and scenario #1 is much much more likely.

Bottom line - we are in GREAT shape financially regardless of those two and their extenstions.

If Brand does go with the Amnesty I would love to see us try to get him at a reasonable price.

Philly's beat writer says no way he is getting it. They are keeping Brand she said.
