Thread: Marc Gasol?

  1. #1

    Default Marc Gasol?

Dan Wolken: Heard from a source the Pacers could be making a huge play for Marc Gasol. Could put Griz in tough spot. Twitter

Iím told, for example, that Indiana -- one team that really hasnít been mentioned as a potential suitor for the Spaniard -- rates Gasol above Nene and is strongly weighing whether to slap an offer sheet down for him. ESPN.com

Why would they do this unless the plan to trade Hibbert?

Gasol is a Center no way a PF

Your going to need at least 11-12M annually to land Gasol

Then Hibbert is up for an extension next year and will probable get at least 8-9M per

Thats ovre 20M guaranteed to two centers

Unless the move is for something bigger, I truly dont understand why they would have interest

Put me in the camp that thinks M. Gasol would be a better addition to our roster than Nene.

The only way they get Gasol is if they offer him a max deal.

We would become the Indiana Grizzlies, I believe with the addition of Gasol. Our team is formatted the same way. Anyone else agree with that?

I likes me some Gasol. You then could have Roy and DC potentially available in a trade, that should bring in some really nice talent.

Yep, Roy would have to get moved. Gasol needs 30 mins a night AT CENTER.

    He's listed 7'1" 265 lbs, thats a center.

It would be akward for Roy if they put an offer in for Gasol and Memphis matches.

Does anyone know what Memphis' ability to give him a max contract is?

Man, I really don't want to lose Roy. I know basketball and personal feelings are separate, but that would suck.

Maybe, just maybe (I know Iam reaching here) they would aquire Gasol as bait to get in on the Dwight Howard sweepstakes before the trade deadline

A signed Gasol, Posey expiring, George for Howard?

    ShamSports.com: Memphis Grizzlies salary information

Memphis already has two players making $15M+ per-season... can they afford a third?

I am in the camp of going after Gasol. If nothing else it makes Memphis have to pay more to keep him. If get him we could try to see if he could fit with Hibbert, but if not then we trade one of them.

I do think Deandre Jordan is a better fit. If we could pry him away form the Clips.

Dwight has to much say in where he will go. He won't sign in extension to play in Indy. It looks like he only wants to go to New York/New jersey, the Lakers, or maybe Dallas.

Gasol would be my #1 target in free agency if I was the Pacers. It's not like we have a roster full of centers... Roy has been great for us but Gasol is definitely top-5 in the league at his position.

I understand those that are loyal to Roy but to be honest, I don't see his ceiling as being any higher than Gasol's. Plus, if the Clippers happen to lose out on resigning DeAndre Jordan...

    Hibbert for Gordon?

Gasol above Nene? Not likely. But I guess he's white so maybe in Larry's eyes. I watched that Memphis series. Randolph did in OKC. Not Gasol. Gasol is also soft. Hibbert is tougher than he is. Nene will bring fire and intensity to this team. A nastiness and swagger that it needs. We really don't have anyone on this team that will light a fire under guys. Seattle had Gary Payton, the Knicks had Starks and Ewing and Oakley. Who do we have on this team that will get in guys faces on those slacker nights and tell them to wake the **** up? Gasol ain't that guy.

I put this somewhere else but I guess I should add it to this tread

"like I have said before about Gasol, I hope people do not let a good postseason go to their heads too much, no way he should be getting close to max anything, last year was not even his best year with memphis. I know Zach had a outstanding year last year but his FG%, Off reb, and points per game were all career lows for the guy."
    Why so SERIOUS

IMHO.....I think that this is a ploy by Bird to force the Grizzlies to overpay for Gasol...thus putting them in a position to look to move some other Players to a team that can absorb a contract without sending anything back.

Yep....it's a ploy to get OJ Mayo.
Ash from Army of Darkness: Good...Bad...I'm the guy with the gun.

This is David West, he is the Honey Badger, West just doesn't give a *****....he's pretty bad *ss cuz he has no regard for any other Player or Team whatsoever.

Gasol is really good IMO he was as big a reason why the Grizzlies made it to the Western Semi-finals as any player on that team.

My guess is we aim for Gasol. If we are able to get him, then Hibbert/Posey gets dangled for Josh Smith
