Rashard Lewis is more of a SF anyway and not worth the money.
Rashard is a PF and Is as much a PF as David West with his bum knee. Rashard will be worth the high MLE. where ever that ends up. 8m -10m i suspect.

You don't have to thank God!
But Lewis has been a durable player and he is a solid go to player, I would pay him approx. 3mil more then having Landry for example. He is a great player rather you want to admit it or not. He just isn't worth the 21mil per year.
I'd have no problem admitting he was a great player, if he was. He doesn't play defense, isn't anything more than an average rebounder. The only thing he's above average at is shooting. That's not a 'great' player by any definition.

Probably don't want to trade draft picks in a shortened season. A few freak injuries could derail the season and there's not enough time to climb out of the hole. If a couple things break the wrong way we could easily get a high lottery pick.

I think you and I have vastly different definitions of the word "great".

I don't want either Lewis or West.

Yea, Your right, The NBA just payed him his entire career as if he was a great player even tho he wasn't. I understand now, thanks for the intellectual rebuttal.

Personally, I would like to go after Paul Milisap due to his age alone. Granted, Nene is not that much older, but I think Nene will try to command a "high" contract. I believe that we could acquire Milisap merely with a trade, then use the money elsewhere (deeper bench).

So a player is only "great" because people in the NBA decided to stupidly pay them a ****-ton of a money? Are you trying to tell me Troy Murphy and Mike Dunleavy were "great" Pacers?

I like Al Jefferson too. Either Jazz big man would be fine by me.

Wow. Really? You're going to make a snide remark like that based off your 'intellectual rebuttal' that consists of 'he's great!!!", and acting like NBA teams never pay much more than a player is worth? That's hilarious.

If you took a poll my guess is that 9 out of 10 people would say that lewis is average. He certainly isn't worth 10 milion per.

I don't believe that Murphy and Dun got payed 21 mil per and I don't think they have ever been listed in the top 20 players of the NBA as Rashard has. But maybe i'm wrong.

I think he is average but with his abilites on the right team (Pacers) he could be a very reliable vetern and would be worth looking at for a high MLE. That's all. He was a example for a possible Amnesty. Another would be Arenas, but I guess by not having great numbers last year, He wouldn't be worth a high MLE and wouldn't be considered a great player.

..and THAT is one of the problems the league was seeking to solve with a new CBA!

I think the MLE is around 5-5.5 million.

I'd take Millsap over Nene if they were both free agents, but if the Pacers would have to trade the 2012 first rounder to get Millsap, forget about it. Sign Nene and get the physical PF we need.

Someone smart should figure out what the new minimum team salary level will be this year. Then figure out what our current salary total is. Subtract the two and figure out how much money we HAVE to spend. Then we can dole that out to 2-3 free agents.

Nene and no one else on Well's list unless it's a trade.

Lewis has declined SIGNIFICANTLY in the past few years. I remember watching him at a Wizards game and was appalled at how poorly he played. I'd pass on him.

No way would I give up a first in a very deep draft for Milsap. I don't even think he's that good.

Now if there was a way to get Nene....
With the #3 pick in the 2015 draft, your Indiana Pacers!

Personally, I want Al Jefferson more.

Though, we'd probably have to give up more to get him.

Lewis is a great player, in the past and still today. His stats is average, but that shouldn't take away the fact he is a great player. For example Robert Horry was a below average player, but when his number was called in those playoffs, he was a great player. Horry has went down as one of the greatest clutch players in playoffs / big games.

I see the durability and the skills Lewis can bring to a team like the Pacers as a major plus. I see Pacers in the playoffs and Lewis being clutch for us at a high MLE 8-10 mil.

And yes, MLE will start at around 5 mil i'm sure.

If we sign Nene it will have to be a max contract. But Nene on this team means multiple playoff appearances. IMO
