Default Jermaine O'Neal likely to start season on injury list

    !

Rick just said so on his radio show, saying it was much more likely than not he'll start the season on the IR.

    God damn.

He's not saying it was worse than expected, just that it's healing more slowly than expected, if you understand the difference I'm trying to say.

Yeh I just heard the same thing.

He also said that Bender has a bone bruise, nothing more, it just takes awhile to heal.

Pacers may look at Gary Trent

Don't ask Marvin Harrison what he did during the bye week. "Batman never told where the Bat Cave is," he explained.

    So we start:

    Pollard
    Croshere
    Artest
    Miller
    Tinsley

    I assume...?

Not sure about that. Rick may be looking for more scoring punch than that lineup offers.

Maybe by pushing Artest at PF and starting SJAX at SF.

We are going to struggle to start this year, for sure. Will Bender be on the injured list?

If JO is put on there, then there won't be any room to even place JB on the injured list. Foster, Johnson, and JO will likely take up the three spots to begin the year.

Well okay, but I meant is Bender going to play? Is he capable of playing with a bone bruise?

I thought you could have more than 3 guys on the IR as long as you only have 15 total players? Or does the extra guy(s) have to just sit out in uniform?

With Bender, they're just going to let it heal up. Sounds like it should be good to go in the next 1-3 weeks.

And to think, earlier articles claimed how "in shape" the team was coming into camp.

I see about a 45 win team right there. Pacers aren't that good unless they have J.O and Artest both playing and healthy

45!?!?! I see about 30-31 with that lineup.
Why do the things that we treasure most, slip away in time
Till to the music we grow deaf, to God's beauty blind
Why do the things that connect us slowly pull us apart?
Till we fall away in our own darkness, a stranger to our own hearts
And life itself, rushing over me
Life itself, the wind in black elms,
Life itself in your heart and in your eyes, I can't make it without you

Yeah, with Croshere and Pollard as our starting frontcourt no way we win 45 games. Sure hope this isn't going to be a problem all season.

Guys, Rick said "more likely than not" that he will start on the IL. He didn't say, "Yeah, we're looking at him being out from the begining of the season until _______". He might be back in four weeks, who knows.

And look on the bright side: This could show how well Bender has improved. That is, if he's healthy.

    Doug, I'm going in January!

This news about Jermaine would really upset me if the Red Sox hadn't just won the world series. Now it's just moderately irritating.

Note to self: Find out whatever happened to the wife and kids while you were watching baseball for the past month.

The poster "pacertom" since this forum began (and before!). I changed my name here to "Slick Pinkham" in honor of the imaginary player That Bobby "Slick" Leonard picked late in the 1971 ABA draft (true story!)

Injured list means 5 games. That's 2 weeks, tops.
Welcome to Pacers Digest! New around here? Here are three tips for making the forum a great place to talk about Pacers basketball.

    • Log in. Even if you want to read instead of post, it's helpful because it lets you:
    • Change your signature options. You can hide all signatures by choosing "Settings" (top right) then "General Settings" (middle left) and unchecking the box "Show Signatures" (in the "Thread Display Options" area).
    • Create an ignore list. I know it may seem unneighborly. But you're here to talk about the Pacers, not argue with someone who's just looking for an argument. Most of the regular users on here make use (at least occasionally) of the "Ignore" feature. Just go to "Settings" -> "Edit Ignore List" and add the names.

    Enjoy your time at PD!
