This is "The Push for Deron Williams". I want to know what your thoughts are on the capability and willingness for us to bring in Deron Williams in eight months.

Deron is going to remain in Brooklyn. Unless the Pacers make a serious jump into being a perennial 2nd round Playoff Team WHILE ensuring that they have a lot of SalaryCap space to make a huge offer to him...I doubt that he leaves Brooklyn/NJ. Brooklyn/NJ may not be much better then the Pacers are....but they have the benefit of moving to Brooklyn and a Owner with super-deep pockets that will do his best to make sure that he surrounds him with the best Players that he can afford.

This is David West, he is the Honey Badger, West just doesn't give a *****....he's pretty bad *ss cuz he has no regard for any other Player or Team whatsoever.

The only way I could see it happening is if we look good enough this upcoming season (assuming there is an upcoming season) to where Deron feels he could be the missing piece to making us championship contenders. Not likely, but much, much stranger things have happened.

if this CBA gets past that Stern talked about I bet he will stay. But if he decides to leave we along with the Clippers would be the most attractive and other teams under the LT would probably be the most attractive.(It would probably be S&T so Dwill gets a max deal)

I bet the owners have the Melo rule in there proposal so it would limit the teams that could get him dramatically

I question his incentive to leave a big market (with money to spend) as well. If we're going to pine for opt-out superstars with wandering eyes, I'd rather make a push for Dwight Howard. Inserting him at PF into a lineup that includes an improved Hibbert and a developing Paul George would be the best way of making us a threat in the East, in my opinion. In fact, the Nets with Deron Williams may be our primary competitors for signing Howard, barring a trade. And yes, I think we'd be a better team than the recent Orlando team(s).

Plumlee reminds me of a young Dale Davis. Good rebounding and he contests shots well on defense and his offensive game is very raw just like DD's was coming out of college.

He seems like a bit of a know-it-all to me.
From Utah & being smarter then J.Sloan to wanting to be the first to decertify when everyone w/ knowledge thinks it's a dumb idea.
I like the player, not a fan of the person (from what I know).

Actually he seems smart in this instance if they were gonna decertify July would of been the time to do it not now. They could of already had a ruling if they did it then. Although the ruling wouldn't be in the players favor IMO .

but i think he is a huge diva the way he handled the situation in Utah was really bad.

If you sign Howard, trade Hibbert. A lineup with both of them wouldn't work. They occupy the same space. If we could grab D-Wil, with Danny, Paul George, etc, we'd become a big threat in the East. Maybe not a championship contender just yet, but a big threat. If we could nab him and Mayo, the backcourt is set. Maybe nab Khris Kardashian. Would like seeing, Williams, Mayo, Granger, Kardashian, Hibbert. Have Hansbrough, George, Hill, Collison highlight the super subs!

If he was ready to decertify back then, it shows me he is not a guy who trusts the players' leadership (other than his own, of course) to do what is right. Lack of trust is not good.

And then there's that. This is the guy that ran off Jerry Sloan. You really want him around here?

    I don't.

Wait, there are who people don't want an unquestioned top-10 NBA player and arguably the best PG in the league because he is unhappy with the labor "negotiations" and had a disagreement with a hard headed 70 year old coach?

    I've seen everything.

Yeah, and Williams also led his team to back-to-back NBA Finals appearances while in Utah...hmm, that was actually Sloan. I think Sloan has forgotten more about succeeding in the NBA than Deron has learned up to this point.

    You are right.

Karl Malone and John Stockton had nothing to do with that. That was all Sloan.

It's a shame Sloan had to face Phil Jackson in the finals.

NJ didn't do to improve the team, no Nene, no Howard, I don't see him staying in NJ.

New Jersey is bad. He's going to want out before too long if they don't get Dwight. If we play well enough this year as a team, I could see him wanting to be here. I think to do that though, we would have to be in a position to host a playoff series without him.

To me Bird is saving 15mil in cap space for somebody and that somebody could be Dwill.

It's even more of a shame the Pacers had to face the Bulls in the Eastern Conference Finals. I don't see any way the Jazz beat the Pacers in '98.

As for Deron, I'm not a big fan of Williams' attitude over the last 3 or so years and would rather not have that primadona on the Pacers. I do think it's possible that he would come to the Pacers however. A team that is 5 or 6 legit players deep, ala Dallas, gives you a better opportunity for success than what a team like the Knicks currently have imo.

Why not here? Think about it if we added those two without losing anyone.

Of course that won't happen, but it would no doubt make us the favorites for several years.

We don't have enough cap space for both.

Mavs don't either, but they can get there by amnestying Haywood and salary dumping Marion. I suppose we can get enough space as well by dumping one of Granger or West, and giving up on re-signing Hibbert. But the difference for us is that we want to keep our guys, while Mavs are preparing to jettison half their roster.

In fact, we might not even have enough cap space for even just one of Howard or Williams. At most we'll have roughly $24m in cap space next year, before extending Hibbert and Hill. So if we extend Hibbert and Hill before the offseason (which seems likely to me) we won't have that much cap space at all. I figure we'd extend Hibbert at $12m and Hill at $5m, so next year we may only have $7m in cap space to play with.
