Great use of $4 million! Guy was over the hill anyway.

I feel for the guy, most athletes don't want to end their career on an IR list. It sucks to know you will never play that particular sport because of an injury.

Hated the signing. What a waste of money. Nice going Polian.

    I think you mean "injury".

If I were him I would too. Probably give Polian the bird as I roll out of the complex on 56th St

I'm well aware of that but Kerry Collins gets the last laugh here he gets paid and Polian looks bad for wasting that $$$ on him in the first place.

He doesn't get all of that $4 million.

Yeah I just read on another board he only gets $1.3 million after all so that's not as much a waste as originally thought. I just find it laughable they put him on IR rather than admit that it wasn't the right decision.

That basically is an admission that it wasn't the right decision.

And that would cause him to be classless and rude by flipping the bird at Polian, why, exactly?

Is it though? I mean why not just cut the guy that would be more of an admission than putting him on IR when we really never saw how he was injured to begin with. I still don't get how he got a concussion in that Steelers game.

Kerry has been known to be a pretty classless dude in general well he was with the Panthers he quit on them. Then of course that whole racial slur incident (which I think was Reggie's real problem with him personally) but he seems to have grown since then.

Putting him on IR is the classy thing to do. Even if Kerry has been a dick in the past, that doesn't mean we have to repay the favor.

    Sucks he didn't have it.

I feel he was only trying to help. Although nothing can really help us right now until #18 starts taking snaps again.

No it's not actually. It is the right decision from a business standpoint, but the classy thing to do would be to keep him, pay him, and honor the contract he signed when the Colts asked him to come out of retirment. By placing him on IR they are taking $2.7 million from him when it's questionable that he's even injured.

Don't you think they discussed this with him? I'm sure they didn't spring this decision on him. "Oh, Kerry, we're putting you on IR, and you won't be getting that entire $4 million you signed for. But keep truckin'." Collins has played a long time in the NFL and made a good living. The money is probably not that big of a deal to him. I'm sure the two sides discussed it, and instead of doing him the injustice of having him backup Painter, they decided this was the best route to take.

Something had to give. Having 4 quarterbacks on your active roster is just ridiculous.

Not only that, but they DID follow the contract. They're going to have IR clauses in the contract, either directly or indirectly, for each side to know what is going to happen with any and all situations.

He knew what would happen when he signed the contract if they decided to put him on IR and he okayed it, or he wouldn't have signed off in the first place.

I know how the contracts work. I don't know what it is about this place that everyone automatically assumes everyone else is a blubbering idiot on every topic, while they themselves are an expert of the highest order. What I'm saying is that it was purely a business decision to place him on IR. It had nothing to do with being classy in any way.

I never insinuated that you were a blubbering idiot, or that I am any sort of expert. I just exercised common sense. You filled in the blanks.

It was a mixture of business and it just being the right thing to do. It wasn't a particularly classy move, no, but it was the best they could do given the circumstances.
