Wow. Garrard a top 25 QB? Really?

Am I the only one who remembers that he repeatedly missed open targets downfield to help the Colts win those games? There's a reason he got released, and it wasn't for money. They're far under the cap.

The colts pass defense is good and they make average qb's look bad. The Jags owner keeps saying that he won't move but if he has a choice of LA or FL then he's going LA. The Jags are rebuilding and they are giving up on Garrad just like they gave up on Leftwick. IMO its more about the money and future than short term wins which Garrad would have given them more of.

    FWIW,
there's a rumor the Colts have inquired about the availability of Ryan Mallett.

I don't know anything about the credibility of the tweeter

Trying to get confirmation on rumor that Colts have inquired about the price tag on Ryan Mallett. So far nothing.
Re: possible Mallett inquiries by #colts, source is third party, claims inquiry only at this point. Unconfirmed for now.
just inquiring about something that was dropped in my lap in the last hour.

bellicek wouldn't "give" him away,if this rumor has legs, expect to recoup what you got him for and then some

First stop on the Colts-Collins breakdown bus, Houston. All aboard! We hope you enjoy the ride.

Seriously though, I hope there are at least signs that the above attempt at levity isn't going to accurately describe this season.

Ryan Mallett? Come on. Kerry Collins is probably about as good of a QB as the Colts can get in the short term. He might be a nice prospect but any better than the Colts could draft next spring? I don't think so.

No need to go overboard. It will be a rough season but just let things play out. JMO.

Weirdest Stat of Day By Far Dept.: Kerry Collins passed Joe Montana on the all-time passing-yards list. Collins is now 10th.
wow that's incredible he isnt very good and never has been but has played a long time.

23 tds 64 percent completion I believe last year...that's top 25 especially considering Mjd didn't quite have it last year

I think Collins looked fine besides his mishandling of the ball on that one play. I am selling on Dallas blocking Williams. Im also selling on the offensive line period.

Collins had a 2 QBR worst in the NFL yesterday. Ryan Fitzpatrick was 1st with a 91.

QBR is a 1-100 scale and

    http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/68...y-see-position

Much better way to judge a QB than just than standard passer rating. It not only judges yards ect. But when it happens in the game and it tells you how much your QB helps you win the game. So Collins Yards in the second half didnt count for very much because they didnt matter.

You cannot blame Collins for what happened yesterday, other than the botched snap, and that is not what lost us the game.

Laundry lists of other issues to deal with before you get to his name.

Kerry Collins might not be the best QB of all time or anything, but to say he sucks is a joke. The guy has flaws, but in terms of steady, winning QBs over the past I dunno 15 years, Collins has to be in the top 10. Took three teams to division titles, two of them to conference championship games, and one to a Super Bowl. He's earned his keep. He's not a hall of famer or anything, but he's not exactly Rex Grossman either.

I was just using Rex Grossman as an example of a QB who always rode his defense to his one winning season. Colilns has had some success where he's actually been the focal point of the team. He's better than average in his prime. No doubt about it.

Collins sucks? Eh...no...but he's not that good. I'll say mediocre. Nice option for a backup, but he requires a lot of balance around him so he can play the more of a steer the ship, manage the team role.

I'll give him that he's got a strong arm, but he takes an hour to release the ball, has always been iffy on pocket awareness, is a chronic fumbler, and has virtually zero mobility.

Put him on a team like Baltimore or Pittsburgh that plays tough D and can count on the threat of a consistent running attack, and he's a great back-up plug in. Obviously, that's not the case here. Although, I'm not so pessimistic to think the O-line can't improve throughout the season to the point where the protection and run game can make incremental progress.

The big issue in Indy minus Manning is the exposure, or should I say confirmation, of just how abjectly awful the defense is - scheme, personnel, you name it. If there's one key thing that will push us over the cliff of unable to compete in the absence of PM, it will be the D.
