Default Jake Query: Peyton's out for the year

    https://twitter.com/#!/jakequery/status/111518009482420225
What I said: A source I consider reliable told me he is out for the season. I do believe that the actual diagnosis is still being determined
    https://twitter.com/#!/jakequery/status/111518543127908352
I was also told the 3rd procedure has taken place, either Sun or Monday.
    https://twitter.com/#!/jakequery/status/111522567130595328
to emphasize: not backing off what I said, but Manning obviously didnt tell me info. Two people I trust did. Just tellin u what I was told
Indiana liquor stores were already low on stock after signing Collins, now this.

I'm guessing this is just a local radio hack trying to one-up another local radio hack.

Their own little battle of ratings / egos / whatever. He's wrong, he says 'Well, it was just what I was told'. He's right and it's 'As reported here first .........'.

IF there is a chance Manning can be back this season then he is going to be put on the Pup list here soon and a roster spot is going to open up here soon. Where is Kurt Warners phone number?

I don't see it this way. JMV was partly right. I bet Query is too.

if this is true- the season is effectively over already.
better hope we can get that andrew luck guy i think.
if he really is done for the season, it makes me wonder how much he has left?

Well Indy, let the bandwagon hop begin!

Now with the respect to Peyton, he's a good guy and I feel sorry for him that he has to deal with this.

Ill say this and then Ill leave it be. If Peyton's neck doesnt improve and he misses all of this year but returns next year, Ill feel blessed. But say he never returns, then in all honesty Im just happy that we got to have the best quarterback in the history of the NFL to play for the Indianapolis Colts. The fact that he won a championship for this town, I thought id never see the day as a kid growing up but Manning made it all happen. Im not laying down and saying "O well he aint coming back." Im just being real. And coming to a conclusion that he may not ever be back.

He is ineligible for the in-season PUP list, since he was taken OFF of the preseason PUP list to practice.

    The choices are:
    a) IR and out for the year
    b) 53 man roster and hold a spot for him

If a diagnosis is still being determined then how do they know he is out for the year?

Even with Peyton healthy it looked like it could be a wild card year at best.

The Colts will be picking very high in the draft. Likely top 5 if Manning is out for the season, IMO.

Twitter says Adam Schefter said "One Colts official texted me this: 'We are aware of the rumors, but can't confirm rumors. That is all they are.'" I don't know if he said this on TV or what, it's not on his Twitter.

If that's an actual quote then, knowing how the Colts work, it's true.

A second source says the 3rd surgery was for herniated discs in his lower back, nothing to do with his neck.

    I love unnamed sources.

And that surgery would be severe enough to put him out for a year. I believe. Of course, my dad had that 15 years ago, though... and he's not Payton Manning.

Can't really bandwagon hop during a lockout, one that is probably going to take away the entire season, if not, most of it.

Stuff like this does not help their cause at all.

But really did anyone think he wouldn't miss the season or at least most of it?

This is his neck we're talking about here. I kind of expect it to be the entire season at this rate.

I can see them not saying this outright they know full well the bandwagoners who buy tickets will head for the hills with their ticket $$$$.

That being said if that's the case why did Manning bother coming out with his statement?

Wouldn't that come back to bite him if this is the case(him out for the year)

    Feelin' Lucky, punk?

As everyone already knows, these nerve/back issues are really, really complicated and like BlueNGold I think there's a significant chance Peyton Manning has played his last NFL game.

I've criticized how the Colts handled certain injuries in the past, but I don't fault them at all here. I think they are just as stunned/shocked/clueless as the rest of us. This has blindsided them just as much as it has us fans. Manning was practicing last week and I think they believed he'd be ready to go on Sunday. The Colts aren't saying much because there is really nothing to say.

The Colts can't release any information unless Peyton say's they can. It's federal law.

its peytons own fault... he should have gotten the surgery in February instead of May and we probably wouldn't be having this problem

Given the Colts history with Peyton's last surgery and how they handled Marvin's injury I fully expect that by week 8 he will be on IR and they will confirm he had another procedure done.

I can completely understand why Irsay and company do not want to say he is done because they know this is not Buffalo or Cleveland and the fans will not stick around for a losing team.

Why is everyone always so quick to crap all over the Indy fans?

The Colts before Manning had been here a mere 14 years and had virtually no established history here. Now they do. It takes time to build a fan base. Places like Buffalo and Cleveland have had teams for an eternity. Indy is a small market with NFL teams all around it. It just takes time to build an identity in a place. For a long time, many viewed the Cotls as being imposters from Baltimore, but it's hard to call them now. Now they have a winning tradition in Indy.

Let's just wait and see how Colts fans react after Manning's career is over before we write them off as being nothing but a bunch of bandwagoners.

Unfortunately, Peyton is in a very difficult situation. Having just signed a big contract and then being unable to play for who knows how long, he is ****ed if he does play and ends up permanently injured (or worse), ****ed if he doesn't play at all.

Bad news for the Colts, but very good news for the Pacers if the NBA gets its act together. Lots of discretionary sports spending available in the Indianapolis market at this point, putting the Pacers in the best position they have been in for a long time.

Sorry Peyton, I wish you a speedy recovery, and I wish the Colts well, but Goooooooo Pacers!!!!!!!!
