    Default Colts Activate Manning

    http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/201...2_a4&eref=sihp
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- The Colts have activated Peyton Manning from the physically unable to perform list.

The team said Monday that the four-time MVP quarterback will participate in practice on a limited basis on a "scripted" and controlled basis.
Manning has been recovering from neck surgery in May, casting doubt on whether he will be ready for the Sept. 11 opener at Houston. The Colts signed veteran backup Kerry Collins to go along with Curtis Painter, Dan Orlovsky and rookie Mike Hartline.

Manning has started 227 consecutive games, including the playoffs, the second-longest streak in NFL history for quarterbacks behind Brett Favre.
Maybe now everyone can calm down and step back from the cliffs edge.

Gamble1 just said to come back from the ledge. No steps forward! Don't do it man!

I saw this coming a mile away. Manning has had plenty of time to rest, how long does it take to recover from a neck surgery?

I still think the Collins signing was dumb. If you waited til after the 2nd preseason to sign someone it should have been for a younger QB to just replace Painter.

Just stick with Painter, cause no one is going to give the Cotls a chance to win other than Manning. Especially if our secondary sucks this bad. How does Lacey still have a job? He gives his guys way too much cushion. Every fan can see that, so what's up with the coaches?

I think our play against the run will be much improved. What corners/safeties are still out there? Any chance we sign someone else?

Great news for sure. But did everybody else think Painter had an awesome performance against Green Bay?

Are you kidding? It's the preseason! That causes everyone to panic and worry that the team is going to suck when the games don't even count yet!

I didn't watch the 2nd quarter, but he looked horrible in the 1st quarter. He would make 1 loooooooooooong read and then throw it away, get sacked or forced it. Maybe he made an adjustment, but Painter seriously sucks.

    Really ?? I mean REALLY ??

Well Dr. Sparhawk, why don't you give us a breakdown of the injury, surgery, rehab process and estimated recovery time for the procedure ??

    Yeah, didn't think you could.

ANYWAY - back to a LOGICAL discussion of this - this only means that there is a good chance that Manning will be ready to play in the 1st 6 games. If they didn't activate him now, he'd be benched until week 7.

Yes, I'm optimistic - but let's not sport any chubs just yet.

I don't need to watch the highlights, as I watched the entire game.

I completely agree with Spar's assessment of Painter. He holds the ball way too long. Yes, he had a pretty decent game, but he completed passes when he kept his eyes on Reggie the entire time. He just locked in on him.

Painter is awful. He's good at his job, holding a clip board, and that's just about it.

He's not a good backup plan, and he certainly isn't the player you hand the keys over too, if/when Peyton ever goes down.

If the offensive line is not significantly improved from last year Peyton will not remain healthy for long.

Ok, since I was asking you to watch the highlights... I thought he did a good job, but ok. Not a football guy.
