Zeller was a far more efficient player than Burke and impacted the game in major ways on both defense and offense.

Michigan finished a whopping two games better in the conference standings (in part due to favorable scheduling) than IU but has a worse overall record.

IIRC Michigan was ranked in the top 25 in the pre-season and IU was thought to be a bubble team at best. But at the end of the regular season IU won more games, beat the #1 team in the country, and is the hottest team in the conference.

Ok, if you imply that Burke does not impact the game on defense, you probably don't have any business breaking him down....

Also, a very rosy picture of a 5th place finish. We're not breaking down the NCAA tournament seeding, were breaking down the big ten awards.

Burke as a freshman was the best player on both ends of the floor for a team that finished tied for 1st in the big ten. Sorry but if roles were reversed you dam well know you'd be repeating that a hundred times over.

It wasn't about being the team everyone loved, it was about beating the teams everyone else loved.

I don't think he implied that Burke didn't impact the game on defense at all. I think he was just stating that Zeller did.

You finished in a three way tie for first. You needed help to get there (you're welcome). If we are painting a rosy picture of fifth, you are certainly doing your part to paint a Rembrandt for your three way tie atop the conference as well.

If the roles were reversed, you know damn well you would be repeating Zeller's impact a hundred times over too. That's a two way street and you know it.

I have a feeling we're going to drop this one today. Very difficult to beat a team three times in one season.

The VJ3 injury was hard to watch. You hate to see any senior go out on that note, especially with what he has been through the past 4 years. Just a very sad situation.

Crean choking up after the game talking about Verdell gave all the clues you needed. Whatever the injury (which I personally believe it's much worse than just a sprain), it's unlikely Verdell will ever don an IU jersey again and that is a ****ing shame.

Time to win the whole damn thing for VJIII.

Meh, the "**** Purdue/Kentucky/whoever" chant doesn't bother me. Yes it's juvenile and stupid and all that high horse stuff, but most of us did it when we were in college and drunk. I know I did. So it would be hypocritical for me to lambast them for doing so. We see that all the time. I'm not going to get on a soapbox about it. It is what it is.
Actually, it has gotten much worse over the years. It started during the davis years and it is seriously lame. Save that stuff for the bars and house parties etc. Some people would like to take their kids to the games. I wish they would come up with something clever instead of that crap.

Like I said, it doesn't bother me personally. I'd rather them not do it, but I really don't care either way.

Feel terrible for Verdell. He went through three miserable years only to get injured before his first NCAA tournament. The kicker is he has been playing really well lately too. My heart goes out to him.

Great win today. I had to follow it on my phone thanks to the world's most worthless conference call, but luckily I never had to sweat it out. I will find a way to watch tomorrow's game. I really want revenge against Wisconsin.

    Verdell

Not even from a competitive perspective, I hope he's okay. Some things go beyond the game.

Crean saying this means Abell, Oladipo, Moore will handle the ball in his absence. Fine with the first, nervous as hell about the second two.

Pretty much every conference call in history thinks it was snubbed for this award.

I'll see your conference call and raise you a Webinar. The dreaded 2PM Webinar...At least I got to down some brews at the Icehouse after and catch the last 5 minutes of the game.

Things I do when we have a WebEx conference: mostly pay attention to everything but the WebEx conference. Although it's usually something equally unappealing, like my constantly-overflowing work inbox. Sometimes, it's ESPN/BTN/FSHD though.

That sucks man. I hate IU and all but if there's a kid on that roster that deserves to play in the tournament it's Jones.

It's so tough to know we won't ever get to see Verdell in an IU jersey again. For all the flaws he had at times as a bball player, he had really thrived in his new role and you could never question the effort he left on the court. Plus he had his finger prints all over the game winning play against Kentucky, it's just so sad that this is how his career will end.

Jordan taylor has been invisible in this one... great defense on him.

Really glad Will was able to come back.. hopefully he won't be too sore after the game.
