VJIII apparently ran himself ragged after the game. Stayed at Assembly Hall until 12:35 AM and worked his butt off.

Whole team should have been there with him. No one was above what happened last night.
While I respect that, shooting is not VJ3's problem. Shot selection, ball-handling, vision, passing and defense are VJ3's problems.

Point being, the whole team should have been working last night. No one played good defense and outside of Zeller, Hulls, and Roth everyone was miserable on offense as well.

Looked like a quintessential case of underestimating a seemingly weak opponent to me, at least to a large degree.

There were 2 obvious reasons Indiana lost that game last night. 1. Being Minnys offensive boards leading to second chance pts. 2. Terrible 3 pt shooting. Ill even add a 2b with Watford deciding to completely not show up. I mean 1-7 shooting with more 3 pt tries than actual fg tries. Come on C.Wat, you gotta know your strengths. I know they are the best 3 pt team in the country, but 2 made 3s 35 min into the game is insane. Sometimes you have to take a page out of Sheeheys book and work for the smarter shot, especially if they arent falling like last night.

I love that Verdell took some intiative and stayed after (Watford should have been right next to him). The only thing is it wont matter unless it translates on the court. Its still nice to see him acknowledge that something isnt working. Whoever said that the team is passing V3 by hit the nail directly on the head. Its like everyone has gotten noticeably better except for Verdell.

I LOVE everything about Cody on this team. I wont go as far as to say hes better than Tyler YET. But you can tell he has all the pieces to be the best Zeller by far. Tyler still runs the court better than anyone in the country and still has a better shot. Cody on the other hand absolutely dominates the post (something I wish Tyler could do). If Cody keeps it up, I honestly dont see why he wouldnt be a Pre-Season All American next year.

Its hard to be too upset with this team though. Even though they have some Vets, this is their real first taste of success. It was only expected that they would slip up at least one game. Just no one knew it would come from Minnesota, and at AH to make it worse. Good to know we have some easier games after OSU. Its going to be a testament to Creans coaching if he can get them fired up and back on track for the Buckeyes. Hopefully last night was just an example of a good team just having an awful night. And it was still only a 3 pt game, so I guess thats something positive to take from it

Because if he keeps it up, even if he isn't physically ready, he'll have a lottery guarantee?

Ive read some ppl already project if he comes out this year, he'd be a lottery pick. The only thing is a lot of ppl think he will stay in college for a while. Hell look at Harrison Barnes, he was easily a top 5 pick and stayed. Its not like Codys stock will drop if he stays. If anything I think it most likely guarantees a better spot

Don't think so. Not yet anyway. His offensive game is polished, could still use some shooting touch. His defensive game is really lagging. Still needs a lot of work there, as well as time in the weight room. The 2012 NBA class is loaded, so I doubt he'd be a lottery pick this year.

I would take him top 10 right now iff I am a nba gm. Even if it takes him a few years body wise he is worth a top 10 pick. Definitely one of my favorite prospects. He is the most skilled big in the draft IMO

2c. Too many very stupid and barely forced turnovers.

2d. A very bad zone defense where nobody knew their blockout responsibilities.

Just a very lame game all-around. Maybe it will serve as a wake-up call. Home or road, nothing is given to you.

Good call on the swiss - cheese zone. I remember thinking to myself Crean can't get out of it soon enough. Poor tactical coaching there, IMO. We were obviously not sufficiently prepared/familiar with it.

EDIT: I'm assuming the rationale to go zone was our inability to control their dribble penetration, but the zone was an epic fail. They broke it down in every way possible: off dribble, via pass, on the boards.

Thank God I was out of town at work meetings the past two days. Watching that game surely would have led to another ban.

Michigan just got smacked around by Iowa.

The B1G is pretty tough from top-to-bottom this year.

    Except for Nebraska.

We interrupt a thoroughly enjoyable IU Bball season (including today's matchup at OSU), with a news item for the otherwise forgettable IU FB program:QBs EWB & DK LEAVE PROGRAM.

    http://www.indystar.com/article/20120115/SPORTS0601/201150359/QBs-Dusty-Kiel-Ed-Wright-Baker-leave-IU-football-program?odyssey=tab|topnews|text|IndyStar.com

I say don't let the door hit you in the *** on the way out. Glad Roberson has displaced these guys, but I wish them well. Also mentioned, which I'd completely spaced somehow, that GK had committed to LSU following his decommitment at IU. Ambivalent on that, although was never surprised that he withdrew from IU verbal.

Today's game is gonna be tough. The intangibles don't look good- their home court, they are seeking revenge, Sullinger is getting back in game shape.

We need another shoot-the-lights-out game and for Cody to stay out of foul trouble.

Defensively, I just don't see how IU hangs with OSU (of course, I said this before the last OSU game!)

IU has really failed to play defense for two straight games. OSU is not the type of team you can continue that slide against. The inability of Indiana's guards to keep OSU's guards from driving (and dishing to Thomas or Buford) worries me.

The foul trouble could go the same way with Sully too though. We get him in foul trouble they are just as vulnerable as IU is. Well maybe not as vulnerable, but it def helps make them beatable

We will need more defensive energy tonight, we created a lot less turnovers than we are used to having against Minnesota, even on nights when our defense hasn't always been fantastic we have been good at creating turnovers, but we didn't do that against Minny.

This is a monumental task for this young team today, OSU is surely not in a good mood after losing to Illinois.

We definitely need to bring our "A" game today. It looks like we spent the last two games looking forward to this one. With MSU dropping to NW, the B1G crown is still ripe for the taking.

Yeah the D the last couple has been a concern. We know giving up offensive boards can be a challenge. As good as we've played overall, there's no changing the fact that this is more of a finesse team inside. There's talent, but no legit bangers.

We're really in trouble today and beyond if we can't control the dribble penetration though. Hulls is what he is. Have to take the good with the bad, but the rest of the perimeter guys should not, IMO, have struggled in this area so much lately. They are capable of better resistance.

Seems like when Zeller has tough interior matchups, such as Sullinger or the MSU bigs, we might look at other ways of getting him the ball besides just straight post - up initiated by him. Get him moving somehow to get the bigger, but less agile defenders off balance.
