I don't know but they sure have a hell of a lot better coach than IU. To say IU is now back on top or whatever is just absurd. It's only 3 games into the season. They haven't even played a Top 70 program yet.
Neither has Butler, and they have already lost one game.

I think his point was referring to recruiting within the state more than anything else, and you can't argue with that.

I think Savannah State is supposed to be the worst team we've played so far, but I'm a little concerned about a possible let down in one of these next two games. That Butler game looms very large next Sunday and for a team that hasn't had a lot of "Landmark" games the past couple years I worry about them looking forward a bit.

I don't anticipate us having a letdown over the next couple of games.

No cable = no Big Ten Network for me. Wish I could buy a basketball package online like I could with NBALP. Would really like to see this year's squad in action...

The BIG10 network has a online thing you can buy to watch all of the games I believe, check it out and enjoy.

The only one I saw goes alongside an actual cable package. Maybe I'm missing it?

We got two. I'm not excited until we are in the top 25. It's nice to see some recognition though. I suspect we will have around 10-15 if we can take care of Gardner-Webb and Butler this week.

I went to Butler's game Saturday. They aren't nearly as good yet as they will be later this season, but their defense is good enough that they should be in every game. I expect IU to destroy Gardner-Webb, but I'll be surprised if they don't struggle with the Bulldogs. I think they'll win, but it will be a good test for the Hoosiers.

Agreed about Gardner-Webb, but I think we will beat Butler by 10+. Assembly Hall will be a madhouse for that game, I don't think Butler is very good, and I think our team will get up for that game. I don't think we will blow them out, but I don't think it will be extremely close either.

I think we'll jump to 26 or 27 if we beat Butler, just my gut. Interesting that the only coach on our schedule this year who has a say in the top 25 poll this year is Painter.

And heck, these are the first votes of the Crean era, and I wasn't expecting to get that sort of recognition at all this season let alone four games in, we haven't had a whole lot to celebrate lately.

And believe me, the media would absolutely **** themselves with glee if IU basketball was ranked in the top 25 when Kentucky comes to Assembly Hall on the 10th.

I would too, although I don't harbor great hopes of actually winning that game.

It's very possible that IU will beat Butler by double digits. It wouldn't surprise me at all if it plays out like the Louisville game did this weekend. That game was much closer than the final score would indicate, and they got essentially nothing from their top two players.

I'd say you're underrating Butler. They aren't a Final Four team right now. However, they weren't even close to that level at this point last year either. They have the best coach in the nation, and they have many smart, unselfish players. They will be a tough out in the tournament.

They match up pretty well with IU, I think they'll make it interesting.

I'd say you're overrating Butler. I love Stevens, but he's not the best coach in the nation. Butler is in a transition year, and short of being a tough out in the tournament, I'm not even sure they will make the tournament. Cleveland State and Detroit are nothing to sneeze at in the Horizon League, and Butler has done zilch so far to warrant receiving an at-large bid.

They've played 3 games!!! They got hosed in Evansville, and got beat by a top 10 team in nation. I don't understand why you're so quick to assume they are a bad team.

Cleveland State and Detroit Mercy are good teams, and winning the Horizon League will be a tough feat. However, Butler has built up enough goodwill with the NCAA that if they're a bubble team, they'll get in.

Edit: By the way, I understand that in the minds of Hoosier fans, winning 3 games makes a team a National Title Contender, but losing 2 out of their first 3 doesn't mean a team can't make the tournament in the rest of the country.

I fully expect us to be undefeated when we face Kentucky. I think 10-4 heading into the conference is realistic.

They lost to Evansville...the same Purple Aces who IU completely obliterated from start to finish. It wasn't even as close as the 21 point victory margin suggested. Besides, you are putting words in my mouth. I never said Butler was a bad team...I just don't think they are a really good team. There is a difference.

Not sure that the goodwill comment has any merit whatsoever, but I'm not going to disagree that if it comes down to Butler and another mid-major of a similar resume that the Bulldogs would get the nod over the other team.

The Hoosiers have won 4 games, and no one but you ever said anything about national titles. In fact, I think if you read through this thread you will see very level headed responses about our team. Forgive us for being excited about blowing out crappy teams (one of whom Butler was "hosed" by), but it's been three long years for us as fans.

Ahh, yeah, I think we could get tripped up by the Irish or maybe at NC State. I don't think the Wolfpack are a particularly good team and I'm not wild about their retread head coach, but we struggle on the road and the B1G/ACC Challenge.
