Officials letting them play so far. I love it.

No, this officiating does suck. There is zero definition to what constitutes a foul vs what does not. First 5 mins was call everything (see also: Hulls picks up 2 quick fouls). Now nothing is called. Zeller getting hacked, no calls.

Christian Watford really is one of the most disappointing players in IU history. I keep waiting for him to have that DJ White epiphany. It's not going to happen.

I think you're really misremembering white to compare him to watford

White was hurt/soft his first few years. He played too far away from the basket, played soft was too in love with his long-range game. He figured it out later in his junior year and all throughout the senior year: he needed to play like a damn forward. And his senior year was one of the guttiest years any IU player ever put together, even as the team crumbled around him. He boarded hard, he played hard inside, he boxed out, did all the right things.

Watford is a poodle in a Great Dane's body. Does everything half-assed, and does it 15+ feet away from the basket.

White never played like watford. He may have been hurt at times or grown into his game but he was never as soft as watford.

Fair enough. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'm waiting for Watford to have that epiphany that he needs to play like a 4, not a 2.

I thought White had a realization like that and played a lot harder later in his career. His attitude change got him in the NBA. I want Watford to have a similar epiphany, but I doubt he will.

Purely hypothetical and I estimate there is approximately 0% chance this happens, but if IU wins out (including the B1G tournament), can they get a 1 seed in the tournament? Currently we are teetering around a 3/4 seed, and a win streak that big at the end of the season, winning the best conference in the nation's tournament, and holding the most marquee win in the country (over juggernaut UK)...it just might do it. Kinda fun to think about.
Here's an equally interesting question: if you guys lose out, would you get a #1 seed in the NIT?

    Boilers.
    Hoosiers.
    Madison Square Garden.

    gets the juices flowing, huh?

'Zo's Volunteers seem to be coming on, too, though to late for the Big Dance. Throw in maybe Butler, and it would be a pretty decent Final Four.

Andrae Patterson is a better comparison to Watford...
Nuntius was right. I was wrong. Frank Vogel has retained his job.

Man, had no idea how to attack the zone and got completely worked over physically. It's definitely been our downfall in B10 play - lack of length, strength, athleticism inside.

They need to work with Zeller in the offseason on developing jump hooks with both hands. Maybe just a left hand period around the hoop. All would really make him more effective around the rim.

Glad they made 20 wins and are likely in the tournament. No complaints. However, I think they've about shot their wad. Lot of holes to patch in terms of quickness/athleticism over the next couple years. Hopefully, recruits will live up to the hype.

IU is a lock for the NCAA tournament. Enough of this NIT nonsense.

A bad loss for sure but this team is progressing nicely overall. People that get bent out of shape over this loss need to understand that IU is not a Final Four, top 15 team but is no longer a laughingstock in the conference or nationally.

Would agree, but I think it's fair to have some serious criticisms for Hulls and Watford, who really aren't fulfilling their roles as leaders or playing even remotely acceptable basketball. And while I think the Crean love/hate is always way overblown (he's either the best or worst, gauging Peegs forum), I think it's fair to question his coaching a bit after his team has looked unprepared to face the zone twice in a row now.

At the very least, we should beat NCCU and Purdue at home, if we win a game or two in the tourney in Indianapolis (which will basically be a home environment for the Hoosiers), then we will still likely end up something like a 4 seed and probably no lower than a 5.

I wad talking to someone about IU and I just thought "they are a lock for the tourney BUT their great wins are almost negated by some bad losses..." how does IU beat UK and OSU but lose to Iowa? That's got to be frustrating.

Let me make this clear, as of right now, we are the only team in the entire country that has beaten Kentucky...the...only...one. Combine that with our other good wins (vs OSU, vs. Mich, vs. ND (on a neutral court), @NC St.) they are not even close to being negated by our bad losses.

Iowa walloped Michigan at home as well. Don't know why everyone seems to be forgetting this. That was anything but a guaranteed win. We are 5th right now in what is regarded as the most difficult conference in America. We have 20 wins, and while this shouldn't matter it does, we are Indiana.

We would have to lose every game left on our schedule and our first tourney game to not get in and even then we would still probably get in as a 9 seed or a 10 seed.

Fortunately, we tend to play better on a neutral court than a true opposing court. Otherwise, we'd be a lock first-round out in the tourney.

Honestly? They won games they shouldn't have. They lost games they shouldn't have.

What's that mean? They're a young, inconsistent teams.

A meh performance over a mediocre mid-major school. 21 wins is nice- at least we are back to respectability and should stay there for the foreseeable future.
