    Default NHL Lockout: Over!

Seeing as it's going on 15+ hours of the announcement, I'm guessing I'm the only one who is really excited about this, but are there any other NHL refugees out there happy with this?

Nope, you're not the only one, I'm pretty stoked. Just waiting to see when the Red Wings are going to Columbus so we can get tickets and make a trip out of it. We'll probably try to make a run to Chicago too but that's always a tough ticket.

I love the NHL playoffs, but the regular season is pretty pointless; as long as you get in the playoffs you got a chance.
"It's just unfortunate that we've been penalized so much this year and nothing has happened to the Pistons, the Palace or the city of Detroit," he said. "It's almost like it's always our fault. The league knows it. They should be ashamed of themselves to let the security be as lax as it is around here."

I can understand this. Hockey is my number one sport, so I will watch every game the St. Louis Blues play in a season. I'm not knocking the NBA, a league I've grown to appreciate more in just the last few years, but a midseason NHL game usually has more intensity than a midseason NBA game. That intensity ratchets up quite a bit once the playoffs comes. I think every sport, except for football, has too lengthy of a regular season, really.

Either way, I'm just happy hockey is back. It's been quite a few dark months, because unlike the NFL and NBA lockouts last year, the NHL (stupidly) cancelling a season is always a possibility with Bettman at the helm.

So is this gonna become the general hockey thread? I'm happy to see the season start, more happy that I no longer work at R Bar.

It can be. I'm newer to the board and couldn't find a recent hockey thread, but I can change this to be the all-encompassing 2013 NHL Thread if that works?

"But, first, let us now praise famous moments, because something happened Tuesday night in Indianapolis that you can watch a lifetime’s worth of professional basketball and never see again. There was a brief, and very decisive, and altogether unprecedented, outburst of genuine officiating, and it was directed at the best player in the world, and that, my dear young person, simply is not done."
