Default Colts reportedly close to signing T.J. Houshmandzadeh to 1-yr deal

Don't know what I think about that. If we wanted a player who chokes against the Steelers, we already have plenty of those.

Well its better than say Blair White.. Personally I would rather have Moss or another deep ball threat than a T.J.

Are you confusing Blair White with Austin Collie LTP?

The Colts need someone that can play in the slot if Collie isn't 100% or gets hurt this year...

I like TJ. My post above is a reference to an old commercial they played on ESPN one season for fantasy football. Showed a guy at his buddies live draft getting excited and drafting TJ HOSHAMAZODE! His friend says you mean TJ Houshmandzadeh from the Bengals. He says yeah him. Championship!

TJ isn't a bad signing. He gives the Colts some depth which hopefully they don't need but it's nice to have.

Yeah the Colts could use a deep threat but outside of Randy Moss who is left that can do that and is not a distraction?

Colts will probably use one of the undrafted free agents at that spot if need be, just like Blair White was used, Joe Horn, Gilchrist, and Brown are all slot type receivers and I know that two run under a 4.4 40 as well.. Browns biggest issue so far has been him dropping passes, Horn has been hurt so far and Gilchrist has been doing decent from what I have heard

TJ has the potential to be decent, he won't start but adds that depth, he will probably also be used in redzone situations because of his physicality, jumping ability and height.

Meh, decent insurance policy if Collie gets knocked upside the head or Gonzo's knee gets jacked up again. Other than that, whatever, guy doesn't have much left.

T.J. Houshyamomma .... he didn't play or do much last year but is probably still pretty talented. I wouldn't mind him being another threat, though i don't think we need him.

Agree with Heisenberg. I guess if depth a concern, but not at all exciting. I want Pat Williams as does the SB cat.

Houshamazilli would be a great/cheap pick up. And please, everyone get off of the Moss train, its already left the station.

This should help keep people from running all over the Colts and shore up that porous run defense....

    oh wait....
Nuntius was right. I was wrong. Frank Vogel has retained his job.

Eh I can't say I like this move

BUT we've had worse (Hank Baskett *shudders*)

And unlike Moss he's less of a headache(and not nearly as talented go figure)

I'll be open to it we have no choice if its a done deal.

I realized I didn't put the (IF it happens) disclaimer on my post but I'll put it here.

Yeah if it happens I don't like this move if it doesn't happen no big deal

Oh I wasn't saying that it was something that you didn't post

I'm just saying I've yet to see it confirmed anywhere.

    I half agree with you.

If it doesn't happen, no big deal. But I think it's a great signing if we get him.

    1. Gonzo is made of glass.
    2. How many more concussions can Collie seriously take?
    3. Blair White seems to be (majorly) hurt.
    4. Pierre Garcon is simply too inconsistent.

The only other receiver we have that I would call reliable at this point is Reggie Wayne.

Houshmandzadeh is a good receiver. He didn't thrive really in Seattle which was disappointing.

But his stats were obviously going down in Baltimore. They have a run heavy offense and Joe Flacco always finds a way to make his receivers look way worse than they are (See Mark Clayton and Boldin). Sure Housh dropped that pass that would've kept them in it against Pittsburgh, but all receivers have a bad moment. That just stood out.

Still, Housh is a good receiver and with Peyton Manning throwing him the ball (Anyone else remember Housh being Peyton's favorite target in the Pro Bowl a few years back) Housh can still be very efficient.

    Just my 2 cents.

I agree though if we don't get him it's not a huge deal. I'd still rather have a safety or a DT (Pat Williams )
Stop quoting people I have on ignore!

Steve Smith was the guy I thought would be a perfect fit with the Colts but he went to the Eagles.

Ditto on that thought although he was hurt as well. He is a great route runner and has great hands.
