Ummm guess he will play some DT and some end on run plays....kind of weird that we signed another veteran d-lineman but I guess...

Kind of weird we signed one and it wasn't a true NT, but another DE-type. Is this a vote of no confidence (or injury concern) for Hughes/Anderson?

Yeah that is what I was thinking...Only problem I see with Hughes is his motor.... he doesn't seem to have one.... like he doesn't play with a tenacity if he can get that then he will be a beast at DE I believe..

Tank Johnson just got released, could be a NT type guy.... not sure what his health is like now though... I wonder how many people on our current d-line lineup will end up being cut...

Brayton seems like a waste of a signing to me.

Tank Johnson might be a good fit. Maybe we could be seeing the release of Hughes if he doesn't get his act together. I think he needs to add some weight still unless someone might think he could drop some weight and try his luck at LB. I know that expirement rarely works though.

Tank Johnson has a wrap sheet as long as my arm. The Colts aren't signing him.

Wow you must have an arm the size of Texas. Very impressive.

At first I had a sliver of hope, but I feel like we're back to where we always are with the DL. Our attempts to upgrade/build quality depth are not more than spare parts acquisitions (Nevis aside).

Even if Nevis pans out immediately, you have no more than a solid top 4. Depth still a major issue. Plus, no legit backup for AJ at NT. Not to mention he's no more than a mediocre NT to begin with, IMO.

The only thing that drastically alter the situation is a massive turnaround for TH, which I do not anticipate. Am I missing something? Is there another player who could develop into more than that on the DL? Is there a legit NT backup in the making?

Unless one of the current DT's accidentally falls into a vat of HgH then no your not missing something. Its a buried your head in the sand run defense and thats all its going to be with only one true NT. IF AJ was Wilfork then I wouldn't mind but he's more of a backup DT on the bills than a starting NT.

Who is 38 and facing a four game suspension, there are reasons why he's still a free agent.

I think he will be a good player but he isn't the nose tackle we need IMO.
