I think REM's Out of Time and Tribe Called Quest's The Low End Theory should be added.

I think red hot chili peppers is the most important rock band of the 90's and BSSM is a classic.

    None of the above.

It's a tie between No More Tears or For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge.

Will Smiths Summertime is the best song of the year. Heard it in the car the other day and immediately took me back to playing ball with my friends and what girls I was trying to impress at the time.

There are a couple albums I liked better than these options, but of them, the Peppers all the way.

    Metallica.

Had you asked me this back in 1991, I'd have said the Barney Soundtrack.

I like the Chili Peppers as well, but in my opinion that album is not better than their albums released this past decade...where they essentially grew up more artistically. Still a good album though.

"By The Way" is the best Chili Peppers Album. They were able to take all the funk and grit of their early albums and fuse it with real rhythm and awesome song writing, and Kedis really grew up as vocalist. He sings with purpose on that album.

The Black Album as best of 91? Good Album, this was the first metallica album I bought, and I actually bought in like 94-95'. Freshman year. It had 5 songs that were really good, but the rest in comparison is just heavy metal filler music. You can tell which songs are truly a cut above and which ones they were just jamming to.

Chili Peppers from that list but if Queensryche's Empire was 1991 that is hands down the best record for me. I was diggin Rush's Roll The Bones as well.

I agree By The Way is their best album I love it. However, we can't deny the impact of Under the Bridge.

Metallica is the first option, Ten is the second. Those are the two albums/songs that I listen to the most.

I've never been a big fan of U2, and RHCP are nice but just not my bag. Same with Nirvana. I can take them in small doses, or when they come on the radio, but listening to X103 turns me off on both. They have 2 songs each on rotation, and play them once every other hour. When you're locked up working, and that's the radio station the radio is on, they get old. Quickly.

Well Nevermind is 3rd in this poll, so it wasn't even the most influential album of the year in this sample size, let alone of the 90s. But we already have a thread for this.

I have to say RHCP. I don't like Metallica or Pearl Jam and am neutral on U2. I like Nevermind, but In Utero is a much, much better album and the gold standard for Nirvana IMHO.

Very interesting that so many 20 somethings on here are just neutral on U2. Being born in 81'. I practically grew up on bands like U2, Genesis, and Queen. The great bands of the 80's that my parents played in the car or on weekends with friends over hosting card parties and stuff.

I personally like Californication the best because that album literally changed my life. It set me on my way.

I can't vote in this poll because I can't really chose between Blood Sugar Sex Magik, Nevermind (another very influential album in my life), and Ten.

Out of the three bands RHCP is my favorite. They just played a secret show about 20 minutes away from me too. Wish I was considered family or friends of the band

I always heard Smells Like Teen Spirit on my way to my basketball games on Saturdays when I was in 3rd grade. Radio station always had it playing on the way there.

And Ten, well Pearl Jam is just a favorite of mine. And they are still going strong.

I'm a big GnR fan, but even I admit there was a lot of forgettable tracks on those two albums. So much so that IMO they could have just done one.

Anyway, I gotta throw in with the Black Album.
