With all due respect to Scot Pollard, I find it patently ridiculous that anyone would conceive the thanks statistics as "seeming to just show who the better posters are." If anything, it just shows who has been here a long time and is not indicative whatsoever of whether or not someone is a "good poster." So basically I think Scot Pollard is equating long with good, and if this is the case, I question why he thinks it is helpful to have the Thanks stats removed while keeping the join date and the post count statistics easily viewable. I think that statistics being easily accessible is convenient for both for new and "old" posters alike and still don't completely understand the logic of why it was removed. If you are interested in improving your statistics just post more of what you post more often, believe me, you don't necessarily have to improve the quality of your posts.
I really like them. Like I said, I like knowing when someone agreed with/liked something that I posted. I don't see it as any sort of issue or any way of measuring posters. It's just a neat little stat. I miss it.
