Thread: Colts sign Jamaal Anderson

    Default Colts sign Jamaal Anderson

    http://www.stampedeblue.com/2011/8/1...al-anderson-de

Was a top pick by the Falcons in 07. A DE but the Colts could use him at DT too.

I actually think this could be a decent move. I don't expect him to start but I think he is suppose to be decent vs the run.

He might have been a bust for Atlanta but I think he could do ok for the Colts. Lets hope so.

Should be cheap and not a bad signing.

Yup... this guy is only 25... he is kind of tall... he would need to be able to get leverage to move to the DT position as well as put on a little weight I think...

Amazing to think this guy got picked one pick after Adrian Peterson, lol..

I still would have liked Okoye more than him though...

    Agreed.

I would've rather had Amobe Okoye, but Jamaal Anderson has been a decent run stopping DE in his career.

He's a bust in terms of draft position, but he can be a really good rotational DE/DT in our system.

    Nice pickup with potential rewards.

We could still probably use him on 3rd downs.

Just what we need another bust of a DE that is too small to play DT. Jerry Hughes must have needed a buddy.

Cant see listing a player that has only played one year as a bust atleast give him 2 or 3 years before you add this title...

I like the move. On a sidenote, I find Brad Wells (the Stampede Blue guy) to be insufferable. He shoots from the hip with his opinions, often can't back them up, and tends to emote rather than discern when readers challenge him.

He said he did like the move but he also called the guy a bust being a first round pick and only having 4 sacks in 4 years thats pretty accurate IMO.

Losing Charlie is the biggest question mark. We didn't have a good line last year and adding 2 rookies in shorten offseason probably won't help a whole lot.

The Kid from BC Castonza is already better than Charlie Johnson. I see an upgrade already after the first day of practice.

Who Cares Cedric Benson was a bust in Chicago Gold in Cincy. Lets Root for this Anderson dude & hope he flourishes.

I just see another DE, is that really what we needed? Polian just seems laser focused on like 3 positions on the team and just ignores the rest.

I agree with this. Just making a general observation about Stampede Blue's webmaster. He can come across as quite smarmy when you **** in his Cheerios.

Edit: the profanity filter has a problem with the word for urinating that rhymes with "kiss"? Really?

I think the Sims move could be a good signing as well. Adds depth to the LB rotation.

What are the 3 positions? DE, ?, ?.

Currently we don't have a good run stoping DE. He's not a great pick up but he could help in special teams and on run downs.

Just wondering.... you think he will start...

The only position that I think is locked up with those guys is Gary Brackett... I hope Sims shows out in came though.

Oh yea and to respond to someones comment earlier, the reason for bringing in DE's is because we like to keep our guys as fresh as possible since we play so aggressive from that position. We want to make sure that when the end of the game comes around and we need a big play we will have the upper hand..

I also think that Jamaal will also help as a goalline DE for his run stopping ability.

Excited for our first preseason game....

I'm excited for both pick-ups of Anderson and Sims. Sims is a guy that I think fit's the Colts mold for an LB to a "T." He's not very big but the dude is fast and a sure tackler.

I also like the Anderson pick because he is primarily a run stopping lineman that we can use on 1st downs.

    2 low risk/high reward pickups I'd say

I wasn't too impressed with him when he was with us. He was alright. He's a nice DE to have.

No Way, P Angerer, Brackett, Conner. Sims is going to have to earn his spot in the rotation. I have said I am all in favor of competition @ every postion. Players have to be Prepared.

I like the comp @ the following spots. QB, RB, & LB. I may even watch the whole first preseason game this year.

Yeah I think I posted this somewhere else but:

WILL Sims, MIKE Brackett, SAM Angerer... That is the way I see this thing playing out... but I am pretty sure that Conner will get decent PT as well...
