Titans LB Thornton retires

Tennessee Titans linebacker David Thornton has played his final NFL game, officially announcing his retirement on Friday.

Thornton spent nine seasons in the league, his first four with the Colts and final five in Tennessee, though he missed the 2010 season with a hip injury.

"My love and passion for the game will never waver, but I am confident that this is the right decision for me at this time," read a statement from Thornton.

In 121 career games, Thornton recorded 809 tackles, five sacks, five interceptions, 11 forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.
