In 1966 I was given a 1956 Ford Crown Vic as a wedding present. Damn tank that thing was.

By contrast...Geezer Jr and Geezerette share an Audi A4.

It was not made to compete with the M3. It was for the 328 actually. You have too look at the costs of these cars too. The SVT was still a good $5-6k less than the A4 2.8 Quattro and the 328. The M3 was a good $40k, almost twice the cost of the SVT.
The point is no one then would have been cross shopping a BMW or Audi with a Ford. The CSVT was the modded version of the Contour just as the M3 was the modded version of a 328. Price is not the driving factor here, but rather what the purpose of the car was.

Price is an extremely important factor. Especially when its nearly a $20k difference. If Ford designed the car to compete against the M3, it would have been very different. They designed it to be a performance sedan with a reasonable price tag. The 328 was a performance sedan too. Just because there was a more expensive version doesn't mean it wasn't. If they designed it to compete with the M3, it would have cost at least $10k more and been completely retooled. You know, like how the M3 had a different engine than the 328. The CSVT had the same base engine as the Contour SE.

More people would have been cross shopping a 328, A4 and a CSVT than they would be an M3 and a CSVT.

huh, an e36 M3 and an e36 328 which is what the contour competed agianst had the same basic engine, A 24V inline 6 . The M3's was just tuned and bored out to create more displacement.

Well, when they were down they weren't fully covered, not like a Corvette Stingray or something. They were like half exposed and the lid type thing popped up. Trust me, not a good look.

2005 Ford Explorer w/ a V8. I don't like cars and all I drive are SUVs. Mom wants something new and is trying to give me her 2010 Ford Explorer, but mine is better. Mine bumps beats so hard it is ridiculous, and that is without any added-in systems!! Will take a pic later on once I get it washed...my idea of clean is cleaner that most people's lol.

I've been thinking about adding Lambo doors to it as well as a couple other things.

that's one of the other things I've been thinking about. I've been thinking of changing it from dark red to black, but everybody tells me to not do that, though.

lol they think all these additions would look sick and they tell me about all this other engine and exhaust stuff to do to it, but I'd rather not mess with the internal stuff as it is fine to me.

Not a fan personally, but if that's all you do it is not too bad. I don't like the cars with huge exhaust pipes, flames, fake fender vents and stuff like that. I would go for something besides full chrome too if it were me.

yeah i'm not interested in the loud exhaust "upgrade" stuff either. if I do anything to it, it would have to be after college. No since in blowing money when I still owe money lol.

The idea of an SUV with lambo doors, well it's just sacrilege to the car guy.

I think we're on pretty much the same page when it comes to cars.
