Now that we've hired Vogel, Boylen, Shaw, and Pritchard, how does our coaching staff and front office stack up against the rest of the league? At least on paper, anyway. I know that we don't know how exactly they will all mesh, but looking at their individual talents where would you put us in regards to the rest of the league? Middle of the pack? Top quarter? Lower?
Better than a lot. Pritch was consdered to be one of the best GM's not too long ago. Shaw was a key assistsant on a championship level squad. Vogel is unproven though, but I believe he has lots of potential.
Our staff should be comfortably above average, and could be real good if vogel proves himself over the course of a full season.
Getting Shaw and Pritchard in subordinate roles is huge. Both are like signing starters to come off your bench. And Boylen, provided he signs, has more experience than our entire staff last year.
Combine all that with getting Hill, and it's been an extremely impressive couple of weeks. When you add in our cap space, I don't think it's out of bounds to say we could conceivably have the best offseason of anyone this year.
So, yeah, don't complain about the lockout. We're winning the offseason, enjoy it.
