Default JJ Hickson for Omri Casspi deal in the works?

    http://twitter.com/#!/STEIN_LINE_HQ/...79233123233792

And then here is the write-up from Rotoworld:

According to ESPN's Marc Stein, the Cavaliers and Kings are discussing a trade that would send J.J. Hickson to Sacramento in exchange for Omri Casspi.
Further details are still forthcoming, but if the two sides agree to the deal, this would mark a serious turn of events in Cleveland, as the team was unwilling to trade Hickson at last season's trade deadline. Hickson averaged 16.9 points and 10.8 rebounds after the All-Star break, but as we noted earlier this week, the drafting of Tristan Thompson likely meant the end of Hickson's tenure in Cleveland. Casspi would likely be the starting small forward in Cleveland, and Hickson's arrival in Sacramento would mean he and DeMarcus Cousins would man the front line. Stay tuned for more details as they become available.
Can we offer more than Casspi? if we can he certainly helps us at the 4 without spending a pretty penny.

Hickson is good but not an upgrade over Hansbrough

Would that give Sacramento an abundance of power forwards? Maybe it would make Jason Thompson available.

No, Sac needs a forward. Also, if Dalembert leaves they will need a Center. No, this doesn't leave Thompson available unless the trade is for a better Center in return.

    What? Casspi? Really?
I think Hickson fits our young core, though he needs to become a better defender.
I'd offer Rush + AJ + second round pick.
If he's available cheap maybe we can try to steal him. I'd rather have a vet PF not another young guy though.

Not an upgrade per say but a different skill set, one that might fit better with Roy and one that would allow him to play alongside Tyler on occasion.

So they wouldn't trade Hickson for Amare but they are going to trade him for Casspi? Damn they suck as a franchise...

Cavs don't need Rush, Price. They need acouple SF. They need a starting SF.

Casspi is or will be a better player than Rush and/or AJ. Maybe if the Pacers threw in an unconditional first round 2012 draft pick along with Rush, the Cavs might bite.

Otherwise, the only player the Cavs would probably be interested in from the Pacers would be Paul George and we know the Pacers wouldn't make that trade.

Larry is not coming back, he didn't have a meeting with Orlando for not reason, yeah he is coming back to the NBA but not to the Pacers, the notion that he is a taking a year off and then come back is absurd.

I like Hickson quite a bit, I'm really suprised they couldnt' do better. I think he's a really good fit here, unless there is something going on behind the scenes, I don't get this one. It's right he's alot different than Tyler in what he does. JJ actually has a pretty nice back to the basket game, iirc.

And Casspi isn't a starting SF. Rush is at least a role player.

uh, btw, update the main post. It's Casspi+First round pick for Hickson, which makes a lot more sense

Casspi has good potential. I would definitely trade Rush for him.

Might I remind everyone this is the same JJ Hickson that the Cavs wouldn't trade for Amare Stoudemire...

Haha, that's so right. Then the "King" flees to Miami. Nice friendship.

Given the protection of the pick I'd say this is a good move for Sacramento. Hickson's very promising.

It's a swap of role players. Sacramento needed a big to replace Landry, and the Cavs desperately needed another wing that could shoot.

I've always been curious about the pick protections. Let's say the Kings manage to find themselves in the lottery all those years and with a high enough pick that they keep the pick. Does that mean that in 2018 the Cavs lose out on the pick or they get the pick no matter what?
