    Default DeAndre Jordan?

He's been extended a qualifying offer so he's a restricted free agent, but the way I see it he's a young (23 years old), big, athletic center. In limited exposure he has shot a high percentage from the field (awful free throw shooter) and has an excellent rebounding and shot blocking rate.

He's not a pnp sort of guy, but he could be an amazing back-up center with his skill set (and maybe could play some 4?)

The way I see it is we give him an offer that's pretty good and if it goes through we get a young center with a lot of upside that fills a big need on the team. And if the offer gets matched then the Clippers have less money next year to match our offer to Gordon!

For the amount of $$$ that you will need to spend to get him....he'd better be a Starter or 1st Big Man off the bench.

Personally, I think that he is a Center. Given that Hibbert CAN'T play any PF minutes and therefore is slotted to play all of his minutes at the Center spot.... I'd rather get a PF that can play backup Center minutes then a Center that can play backup PF minutes.
Ash from Army of Darkness: Good...Bad...I'm the guy with the gun.

This is David West, he is the Honey Badger, West just doesn't give a *****....he's pretty bad *ss cuz he has no regard for any other Player or Team whatsoever.

I'd be perfectly fine with signing DeAndre and then shopping Roy for a starting PF.

You don't throw money at a restricted free agent unless you intend to get him. The offer itself puts a hold on your cap for up to 2 weeks, at which time the other free agents you want will probably be gone, and the team can match the offer anyway.

Also, the Clippers have something like $24 million committed for the summer or 2012. They could give Deandre Jordan Dwight Howard money and still have plenty left to match any offer for Eric Gordon.

I would be fine with this. Might even go to more Hawks games as a result and try out for Hibberts Area 55 here in Atlanta! I think the Hawks would be a better team with Hibbert and Horford than as it currently stands with Horford and Smith.

But I'm a Pacer fan, not much of a Hawks fan.

I'd be perfectly fine with signing Deandre and having him be our starting PF. He can defend the 4 and then crash the boards on the other side when Roy floats out and shoots the elbow jumper.

People automatically assume that just because you see a "C" next to their name that means they must play Center and back-up Roy. These are the same kind of people who said "The Spurs can't take Duncan! They have David Robinson"

No, I'm not saying this is the same scenario but I'm sure you get my point.

I mentioned this in another thread. It's not like Jordan isn't athletic enough to play the PF spot. I really just don't understand some people's thinking in that you HAVE to play C because that's what's listed as your position in the media guide. We wouldn't be signing Jordan for his offensive game really anyway. He'd be brought in for his rebounding, athleticism and shot blocking. Anything else he provided would just be a bonus.

I think the big thing with Jordan is that it's doubtful he'd want to leave LA. Why should he? They are arguably on the threshold of something very special out there. Same with Eric Gordon. They get a small forward, and they're going to be right there with OKC.

Until their owner screws things up... again. It's not like he doesn't have a history of screwing over his own franchise and their fans, over and over again. As far as the Clippers becoming a legit team, I'll believe it when I see it.

It was a little different game back when Duncan and Robinson played
together. That was prior to the rule changes governing perimeter D
    were put in place.

In addition, needless to say, neither Hibbert or Jordan are anywhere
near as good as either of the SA bigs.

Deandre Jordan has zero shot at guarding PFs away from the basket. He doesn't have that type of ability. He isn't a power forward by any stretch of the imagination.

We need a backup Center who can reb, block shot and defense.
Jordan is a very talent young player and a nice fit here.
Wonder his price, but i can offer Foster's salary to him with 4-5 year deal

It doesn't matter to the Pacers if it puts a hold on our cap for 2 weeks. There's so much room they can still do what they want.

So is DeAndre so much worse of a defender than Josh McRoberts or Tyler? I have to think he'd have at least some chance of defending the 4 if those two can.

Also, I can think of many reasons why someone would want to leave the Clippers. They probably won't make the playoffs, they are ineptly run, there's a decent chance Gordon won't be there more than 2 years, they're a has been team in LA (second choice) etc... Plenty of reasons to stay too, but money talks. Just seems like a better choice than West or Landry...

Honestly he is like me in 2k he jumps at every pump fake. He would foul out by the 3rd qter if he played only the PF.

DeAndre Jordan is a really nice backup center who is about to get paid like a starting center because playing next to Blake Griffin made him look really, really good. He would be wise to ride that train as far as it takes him.

    Exactly.
We should help drive the price as high as possible, 'cause it might make it harder for them to hold on to EJ!

The Clippers have a tendency to blow up after collecting some good young players. Aside from some crappy drafting, there is a reason why the LA Clippers are rarely getting into the playoffs despite drafting top 10 picks year after year.

As for Jordan, he's just got hyped after getting paired with the most athletic PF of the current generation.

He's got potential. He can learn to defend against PF's. Just like any young player with his amount of potential (or more) can learn to pass like a point guard instead of playing like a shooting guard (Lancelot). And like how any player gains a post game to get better. He'll adapt.

He's got no defensive instincts other than see ball, swat ball. Can't teach that.

And no, you don't learn court vision either. That's ridiculous. You either have it or you don't.
