Default What position will Hill play?

With Hill now in the rotation the question lies on what position he will play. Does DC or PG come off the bench or is granger on the trading block again. Any thoughts

After hearing the interview from larry I think GH is our new sixth man he's more of a combo guard after doing some research and watching tape he does a good job guarding most sg but does a better job on ones. He is not a great passer but can find the open man so i think he's more of a sg who can play the point as needed but not full time.

He will play the 1 and 2 as the first guard off the bench.

If Vogel has some sense about him, he'll start at point guard.

You can play him off the bench with Lance and Hill guards the PG and Lance runs the offense.

I see Hill playing both 1 and 2 with whatever matchup is best for us. I think he would do well with PG playing the 2 on defense and GH running the show offensively. It will also be interesting to see if a GH/Lance combo would be effective.

It's bizarre that the Spurs would deal George Hill with the Tony Parker situation going on. And I really liked Leonard too. I thought he was a huge steal, and a great replacement for Mike Dunleavy in the rotation.

But, Hill has some potential to emerge as a really good player in his own right. He won't have all those veterans to lean on anymore. So he'll be forced to shoulder much more responsibility with us. He is a very solid 2 way combo guard. Ultimately, I think you'll wind up seeing Hill play a lot more at SG, but he can play either position effectively.

The Pacers have very sneakily assembled a very talented group of young guards with Collison, Stephenson, Hill, and Paul George all being able to give you minutes in the back court. 3 of those guys can play 2 positions effectively. I never thought going into the draft that George Hill would wind up on the Pacers without giving up a single player off of last years team. So that is definitely a good move.

Now on to the front court.... Go get that big nasty PF we've been wanting for 2 solid years now! And get Stanko' *** over here too!

Too bad there is gonna be a lock out.

He should be the backup 1 on Defense while Playing off of Lance on the Offensive side of the ball.

Not a good comparison or expectation for Hill. Actually, Collison is more comparable to Terry, and I wouldn't be surprised if that is the role he ends up in.

I think right now you start Hill on the bench backing up the 1 and the 2, with the thought that if we find out he was held back playing with Parker and Manu he becomes your starting 1.

I agree. It's not these are the same kind of player but its that this is our starting caliber player who comes off the bench but still gets starter type minutes.

Manu Ginobli has arguably been the Spurs best player for a while and he made a career out of being a 6th man that can play multiple positions. With Hill's work ethic and energy and willingness to do anything for the team (as Ive heard many times) I think this example will rub off on him nicely.

Why do you need to do that? Did Collison play so well last year that he made the job his without a fight? Not in my eyes. I think you have to go into the season with the idea that nobody's spot is safe. Let Hill and Collison (and Price or anybody else) compete for the position in training camp and preseason.

I didn't mean to compare them as players, I was answering the question of what position he was going to play... As in backing up both guard positions for about 30 min a game. That being said I don't think either gh or dc and terry are very similar, and think it would be a big mistake to start hill over dc. Such a big mistake that I can almost guarantee that he wont.

    PG Collison
    SG Hill
    SF Granger

    backup sg: Rush/Jones
    backup pg: Price/Stevenson
    backup sf: George/Posey

A move has to be done with one of these guys. If not I can't see paul george starting with granger anymore because too much size is not when you take them out. Also I can't see Stevenson getting anytime with this current roster.

I was just saying the very first time the team is together, Collison will likely be viewed as the starting point guard.

Paul George is the starting SG, and it's Hills to have to win.

You guys aren't still counting on Lance are you? I say no way is he here long term. He is a blowup waiting to happen. If he even sticks in the NBA for more than 5 years I'll be very surprised. That was a good trade because I don't like Price and don't think Lance will be around. Hope I am wrong and he develops into a nice player but I don't see it.

i think you are completely wrong. I honestly think when Lance was sitting in his suit last season, he was laughing at AJ and DC. He knows he can outplay both. I bet he surprise people come training camp.

I wasn't really referring to his talent. I think he is a little on the crazy side and will pull an Artest in one way or another. Mentally he has a way to go before he is starter material I think.

We have options. I'd guess he'll be the 6th man as a PG,but he'll see minutes at SG too. He could also start at 2 with Paul George being the 6th man, which I think would be very interesting.

We'll see. I doubt he beats out DC as the starting 1.

I wouldn't be surprised if he winds up being the starter. His defense is what really separates him from Darren Collison. I think their scoring ability is a wash but DC's biggest weakness right now is his defense and I'd rather have my best defenders starting.

Larry is not coming back, he didn't have a meeting with Orlando for not reason, yeah he is coming back to the NBA but not to the Pacers, the notion that he is a taking a year off and then come back is absurd.
