Default A Cut from Dale Davis

    http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_yl...sleepers061911

Markieff Morris, 6-10, 245 pounds, PF, Kansas

A scout said Markieff’s twin brother, Marcus, is expected to get drafted about five spots higher than his sibling. Markieff is projected to go as high as the middle of the first-round.

Unlike his brother, Markieff is focusing on playing power, not small forward.

“A lot of people are sleeping on me, but it is what it is,” Markieff said.

An NBA scout’s take: “One of the most undervalued guys in the draft. His brother gets all the headlines. He’s a legitimate power forward cut from Dale Davis cloth who can defend, rebound and can make passes from the post. A winner.”

Dale Davis was created from concrete and wrought-iron. His bone-structure was made of adamantium. His muscles and tendons were built from steel-cables. It's why he couldn't shoot, because steel cables don't move too well on adamantium.

When he set a pick, blocked out for a rebound, you felt it, even while sitting on your couch at home. I don't see a Morris Brother being even close to coming from that same mold.
There are two types of quarterbacks in the league: Those whom over time, the league figures out ... and those who figure out the league.

I liked Dale Davis, but I feel like he's now VASTLY overrated on this board.

That being said if Morris played like him I'd be interested, but I don't think he does.

according to Tbird in his #11 and sleepers post:

    6. Markieff Morris…..enthusiastic tougher PF, lacks length and athleticism but plays with a cockiness and swagger that I like….wouldn’t be shocked if he ends up here with us actually, though I’d pass since I think Hansbrough is better than him…..love the attitude he brings to the table…physical defender and good screener……reminds me alot of Drew Gooden.

I'm DVR ing a couple of Kansas games in the next day to look at the Morris' and Selby.

One game is Colorado vs Kansas on ESPN Classic at 3pm today.

I have another game set on ESPNU tonight at 10:30 USC at Kansas.

You get to see Colorado's Burk and USCs Vucevic as well as Kansas' players. I'm excited to see them.

Dale Davis was the Beast of the East in the 90's. Where was you?

I like Morris, If he is there at 15, I would like him more then the SG's that are being talked about. But I think LB is going to trade for a PF and draft a SG in the draft. If it was me I would get Mark at 15, sign JR Smith(sg) and give Josh and Jeff an extension and sign Chuck Hayes. Then if an opportunity comes to trade for a top 5-8 PF in the league during the season, then do it.

Also, I watched atleast 12-14 games of Kansas and in no way is he cut from the cloth of DD. Not even close. In fact Mark has a very good touch for a big, he was like 62% 2ptfg and 42% 3ptfg. and 8 rebounds. I think he has a bigger upside then his brother Marcus. And to me his defense is suspect for the NBA. He will have to toughen up. Mark is a total opposite of Davis.

A miniature Dale, maybe. Dale was 6'11" (this guy's 6'9"). I don't know what Dale's wingspan was, but I visually recall it being long, and this guy's wingspan is 6'10.75".

All these years later & we still need a Dale Davis type player.

Also I love the fact that I no longer need to carry the Dale Davis banner alone, as time goes by the legend grows.

And with that I give you the greatest movie every made.

Honestly though, if you never saw a name, people would think we're talking about Bill Russell.

Matt Howard is the best at setting screens in this draft.

Dale Davis was a 3pt Threat in his day. He would miss his free throw get the rebound, score, & then get fouled again!!!!
