I remember being upset about Scott Haskin, even when I was only 10 years old. Thank God we had Antonio come over that season to replace that wasted pick.

My first ever Pacers basketball card was a Scott Haskin rookie card.......

His career was derailed by injury. He may have been a pretty good player and pick.

My career was derailed by a lack of NBA skills.

I remember seeing him at Best Buy his last year, and it just looked like it was a struggle for him to even walk upright.

My memory of Scott Haskin was going to my first Pacer game, Haskin coming in the game, and promptly throwing a turn around hook off the side of the backboard. What a crazy crazy pick that was.

Speaking of bad Pacer drafts. Anyone want to find the one *really* bad pick in the top 10 from this year? I'll give you a hint, Dude broke Jordan's scoring record in the Mcdonalds All American game.

    2 Steve Francis (G)
    3 Baron Davis (PG)
    4 Lamar Odom (F)

    7 Richard Hamilton (SG)
    8 Andre Miller (PG)
    9 Shawn Marion (F)

Our drafting in the 1990's really wasn't very good. Our best picks indisputably were Antonio and Dale, and after that you have Al Harrington, who is a good individual player but not a team guy. After that, maybe Travis Best? Lots of meh picks in that period.

Trading Vonteego Cummings for Jeff Foster worked out okay, though.

From Wikipedia, regarding the 1996 NBA Draft. Hits you right where it hurts. Really hard to think we came away with Dampier from that one.

It is widely considered to be one of the deepest and most talented NBA drafts in history, with over one-third of the first round picks later becoming NBA All-Stars. It produced three players that won NBA MVP awards (Kobe Bryant, Allen Iverson, Steve Nash) and seven other All-Stars (Shareef Abdur-Rahim, Ray Allen, ydrūnas Ilgauskas, Stephon Marbury, Jermaine O'Neal, Peja Stojaković, Antoine Walker), for a grand total of ten All-Stars from the draft class. Moreover, eight players from this draft class have been named to at least one All-NBA Team, the most among any draft. The draft class also produced two players who have been named to the NBA's all-defensive first team: Kobe Bryant and Marcus Camby, with the latter also winning the Defensive Player of the Year Award in 2007.

in 96 Rodney White was the top scorer in college basketball and the National freshman of the year, got drafted by Detroit and never amounted to much.

Got drafted right after Diop and Right before Joe Johnson...

I remember the 1993 draft like it was yesterday. It's really not an event made to see live. I was bored out of my mind between picks, and it sucked not getting the inside info from the broadcast booth like I was used to.

Not a big one really, but how about in 2004, we took David Harrison, and then the next pick was Anderson Varejao?

Also Shawne Williams in 06 with Rajon Rondo on the board, granted I don't think anyone expected Rondo to be as good as he is now, but man.

I don't think anybody but Rod Thorn thought that was a good idea.

So I'm going to trade my only star so I can pair two highschool kids on my 20-win doormat, and that's a good situation to develop them? Really?

Solely based from a potential standpoint, but anyone who thought they would come in and beast right away would be an idiot.

They were never going to develop as a tandem in that atmosphere.
