Default Suns to buyout Vince Carter

    http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap...Buy_Out_Carter

The Phoenix Suns are working on a buyout with Vince Carter, per the Arizona Republic's Paul Coro.

Carter averaged 14.0 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game this past season.

Carter signed a four-year, $61.8 million deal in 2007. He's entering the final year of the contract, which will pay him $18.9 million next season.
hmm could make way for the Suns to add another scoring wing to the roster at #13

I can't understand why any team would buy out a player right now. They may be able to waive him after the new cba is in effect and not have his salary count against the cap. They could also end up buying him out for more then he'll be paid under the new cba if salary rollbacks happen. The Suns would also save on his salary if there is a lockout.

Any interest here? I would be.. He could be a heck of a sixth man/nice starting 2. He's considerably better than Rush/Dunleavy, and that's the rotation we had for most of the season until Vogel took over.

Of all the washed -up former stars, I would rather take a chance on Carter on a 1 year deal. If trades shake out our wing depth.

The last year of VC's contract is only partially guaranteed ~4mil.

So if they buy that out they only pay 4mil, instead of paying ~16mil which doesn't count against the cap if they bring in an amnesty.

The suns would probably waive one of their longer contracts (like Childress) if the amnesty was available.

    Man where'd this guy go?

He'll wind up with a contender no doubt, but not make a huge splash like he did when he first joined the Magic.

I totally forgot Carter like Billups only have partial guaranteed contracts. It makes sense now why the suns would buy him out.

Sorry, but I Carter isn't a player I want on the Pacers. PASS!

If push comes to shove, I'd probably rather have him on a one year deal than give Jason Richardson a long-term one.

That changes everything then. They wouldn't save that kind of money under a new cba, or lockout unless it lasted the entire season.

Vince was my favorite player. Going into last year, I would have loved to have him here. But seeing what he did last year (some games good, some games he just disappeared)---well, I'd be scared to part with very much money at this point. One year deal with incentives maybe.

I thanked this post, but let me make it clear: I want absolutely no part of anything relating to Vince Carter.

He would become the new Mike Dunleavy. A old washed up vet taking minutes from the younger guys. The sad thing is Vince Carter's defense at this point in his career is almost as bad as Dunleavy's. Vince is way better offensively IMO.

He is getting older and seems to play fairly passive a lot of the time. He is one of those players that you remember how good he was and you just know that he is going to bounce back one day but never does.

But since I am still in the denial phase I would give him a look, lol
