Klay Thompson Reminds Walsh Of Reggie Miller
    Jun 17, 2011 9:55 AM EDT

The next Reggie could be Washington State's 6-foot-7 shooting guard Klay Thompson, who for weeks the Knicks felt wouldn't be around at 17, but now feel there's a chance.

Knicks general manager Donnie Walsh had told confidants for weeks Thompson reminded him of Miller as they are both 6-7, lithe, silky smooth from the perimeter and grew up in Southern Califorina, both playing in the Pac-10. Sure enough Thompson said Wednesday the Knicks president told him the same thing.

"Donnie Walsh told me that after I worked out for the New York Knicks," Thompson told the Racine Journal Times after working out for the Bucks Wednesday. "I shot the ball pretty well in their workout and, because we have similar builds and similar size, Donnie told me how I really, strongly reminded him of Reggie Miller."

Thompson's workout with the Knicks on June 2 flew under the radar because he was in the same group as BYU's superstar Jimmer Fredette. But Thompson outshot Fredette that day during the 3-point drill, bagging a sensational 21 of 25 3-pointers.

Plumlee reminds me of a young Dale Davis. Good rebounding and he contests shots well on defense and his offensive game is very raw just like DD's was coming out of college.

I would take Klay at #15. Best (SG) shooter in the draft IMO.

    From Klay's Wikipedia article.

"Klay faced controversy when he was suspended for his final regular season game at WSU after being issued a misdemeanor criminal citation for marijuana possession."

Not pass. That doesn't even register as a blip on the criminal scale, and I doubt it will play ANY role in where he gets drafted.

It sounds like Donnie wants us to take Klay so he can grab Brooks. I am on to you Donnie..

Not falling for it Walsh! The biggest difference is that Reggie was lights-out in college (55% FG, 44% 3 PT). Klay peaked at 43.6%

Omg, I get so tired of the "weed - no big deal, 90% of the nba does it" line... this isn't high school anymore, peeps.

Brunner said Thompson outplayed Brooks in their workout. Said it was close but that KT got the better of Brooks.

    For what it's worth.

Right, I agree for the most part but if an upper class man is nailed during the season.. ??? I think that responsibility and attitude could definitely be called into question.

I mean really how many times has Indiana been down this path with players?

    I would pass also.....

This is more than a "charge". They found 1.95 grams in his car when they pulled him over, and the officer's report sure makes it sound like he was smoking and driving at the same time. Yet another guy that we DON'T want in the Pacers locker room. Put garbage into your body and sooner or later you'll get garbage back out of it.

Here is the youtube video of Klay publicly apologizing to the WSU fans before their final regular season game for being benched because of his arrest.

    LMAO @ 1.95 grams
like it is some huge amount ....

1.95 grams is about equivalent to a cigarette sized doobie ..

young kids do stupid things while growing up... I have done my fair share...
I personally don't think it's a big deal as long as he learns from the boneheaded choice.. and moves on
Heck, think of it this way ... that joint he got busted for may be the difference in being a lotto pick , and him dropping to within our range .. I'd say it works to our favor ..

    because

He sounds like he is a smart kid .. I wouldn't expect any more trouble in the future myself...

I hope there is a way we could get this kid in the draft and keep out core intact.

Welcome to Pacers Digest! New around here? Here are three tips for making the forum a great place to talk about Pacers basketball.

    • Log in. Even if you want to read instead of post, it's helpful because it lets you:
    • Change your signature options. You can hide all signatures by choosing "Settings" (top right) then "General Settings" (middle left) and unchecking the box "Show Signatures" (in the "Thread Display Options" area).
    • Create an ignore list. I know it may seem unneighborly. But you're here to talk about the Pacers, not argue with someone who's just looking for an argument. Most of the regular users on here make use (at least occasionally) of the "Ignore" feature. Just go to "Settings" -> "Edit Ignore List" and add the names.

    Enjoy your time at PD!
