Default Andre Miller drawing plenty of trade interest

    From Yahoo:

Andre Miller has been with the Portland Trail Blazers for two seasons. That may end up being his full tenure with the team since he is drawing a fair amount of trade interest so far this offseason, CBSSports.com.

"There's a lot of interest in Andre for various reasons," Blazers Acting GM Chad Buchanan said, CBSSports.com reports. "At the same time, we value him and realize what he's done for us the last two years. There's a lot of respect around the league for Andre. ... People talk about his age but the guy hasn't missed a game in seven or eight years."

The 35-year-old point guard averaged 12.7 points, 7 assists, and 3.7 rebounds per game last season. He's scheduled to make $7.8 million next season, but it's not guaranteed so the team -- or any team that trades for him -- can actually send him packing before June 30 and not have to pay him one penny.

Andre Miller for Devon Harris swap makes the most sense.

this sound a lot like a team trying to get rid of a guy that they are going to cut anyway. hoping to find a suck . . .err i mean someone to take him and save us the payout.

Portland really liked Millsap when he was a RFA. IIRC, they signed him to an offer sheet which Utah matched. I wonder if Utah would be interested in Miller's unguaranteed contract.

I remember that. I think Portland tried to make it even harder on Utah by front-loading the deal, too, but Utah matched it anyway (obviously). I forget how much his first year was worth compared to what he makes now.

Funny how they wanted to do that, then now Aldridge was recently playing like an all-star at the same position.

Only for Portland. Utah would get hosed in that deal unless Portland sent back another asset like a pick.

He's extremely old and cannot score or shoot.

He basically got a $5mm signing bonus, according to ShamSports. No clue how that works. It was a 4/$32 deal, so I'm thinking maybe the $5mm is evenly distributed over the life of it and while he's got 2 years left on it at 8.1 and 8.6 cap figures he's actually getting paid 6.85 and 7.35.

I've always liked Andre Miller. Pass first PG that runs the offense well. Not sure how much he has left in the tank.
