Are these free admission, or how much are tickets?

I probably won't be able to go, but I'd like to check one game out at least.

Last year was free, and this year is free as well according to the website.

There have been several former Pacers the past couple years and other local standouts. It helps the four months go by a little faster. If JMac really shows up it will be awesome.

Having gone the to the Pro Am games the past several years, I wanted to note a couple of things:

-- Player attendance varies from week to week. What I'm saying is don't expect to attend a night's worth of games and see a dozen NBA players because it won't likely to occur. It's common to see maybe 1 or 2 players a night for the sessions, but I don't think I saw more than 3 NBA players last summer at any given time.

-- My understanding is that attendance will be free again this year. A couple of years ago, the games were held at Broad Ripple and there was a small admission fee, but since the move to IUPUI, the games have been free. Keep in mind that, unless you want to walk a far distance or risk a ticket, the parking garage is very accessible and is only $3 or $4

-- They do sell drinks and snacks for a reasonable fee. There are also vending machines available that offer additional items as well

-- Be courteous when it comes to watching the games. Keep in mind that you could be heckling a player and his parents, wife, girlfriend, kids, etc. could very well be sitting next to you.

-- Players are very accessible. I went last year and saw, met and spoke to numerous players, including Zach Randolph, Eric Gordon, George Hill, Shelvin Mack, etc. Keep in mind that this isn't an invitation to bring 100 basketball cards for the players to sign, but they're usually happy to sign an autograph or two, take a picture or speak to you for a few minutes

-- Don't be surprised to see special guests. I saw some Indiana Fever players, NBA scouts, college coaches, etc. last year when I attended. I also saw Gordon in the stands watching a game with a few of his friends one week that the Olympic team had off.

-- Don't expect to see the NBA finals. The NBA players will usually not go full speed during these games and risk an injury. However, the games are usually competitive and you get to see some razzle and dazzle plays

--Most importantly, have fun! The games are fun, it's neat to see a lot of these players up close and interact with them. It's definitely nice to get your basketball fix for a few months during the summer.

I absolutely would go, but I wish it still took place at Broad Ripple High. I'd definitely go in that case, as I did before.

I went for one night's worth of games last year and it was absolutely awesome. Fred Jones, Andre Owens, and Eddie Gill played as well as Matt Howard. There's actually a whole lot of talent there. Even these guys that have been MIA since their high school days or JC days, they still have tons of talent and it really shows you how competitive Indianapolis and Indiana basketball in general is. It is definitely worth going imo.

I thought Robert Glenn played for IUPUI last year?

Gordon Hayward is playing too. I'm gonna have to check this out. Where can you park nowadays at IUPUI without a permit? Can I park at the Nat Garage?

    Nevermind I read the above.

There's an IUPUI public parking lot about a block or two east of the gymnasium. I think it was $3 last year.

Smoothdave1's summary was good and reminded me last year I got to sit next to Tamika Catchings and Michael Grady.

I did like the atmosphere and location better at Broadripple, but it's still free and good (especially good for free) basketball. My biggest gripe to myself is that the announcers don't ever do enough announcing, because I usually don't know half of the guys who are playing, but always curious about their names. Last year there was a sports journalist or two tweeting the games and players names / jersey numbers which was cool for me.

This sounds pretty awesome. I'll be home for Week 2, so I'll see if I can take a trip to see a couple nights' worth of games. It'd be pretty awesome to see McRoberts, as well as any of these other guys, especially EJ and George Hill.

He did but has been playing in Venezuela/Spain for the last year. He won the LPB dunk contest and just recently was named player of the week. He left his team Melilla Baloncesto in the LEB. (played against Bismack, said he was "trash" fwiw)

He also has a workout with the Kings and Hornets again this offseason.

The other thing that I wanted to mention was that attendance at these games really varied. I don't think that I ever saw more than maybe 200 people at a game, which was probably comprised of 80% friends and family of a player(s). The attendees are definitely basketball fans and it's fun to chat hoops with the die-hards and even the friends and family. With twitter, I'm sure you could probably get a better idea of who may be playing when.

Maybe we should plan a PD gathering @ a Indy Pro Am game?

Yeah, attendance at Broadripple was maybe 100 at times. The first game was 50 if they were lucky. Hibbert was supposed to show up for one game and the turnout was huge in comparison, but he was a no show. I think that was his rookie year.

Another good point SD... you can easily accidentally sit next to player's families, other players, and it's pretty cool. I talked to I think Freddie Jones mom for most of a game and learned a lot that I now forget.

Any idea if there is a schedule for 2011? I want to watch team Gold, E'Twaun and JaJaun are playing.

Or Etwan and Juan as the site calls them.

    Indy Pro Am Schedule 2010

This gives you an idea of the schedule, except I think the first game is Tuesday the 28th as listed in the footer of the website.
