    Default Taj Gibson

I know he's been discussed here before but his recent play in the playoffs I think emphasizes the potential fit here. My only hope is that he isn't playing himself into a bigger contract this summer.

AKA The ACE which is then AKA The Austin Croshere Effect

Hi motor, good rebounder, plays above the rim and a VERY solid defender. As reference he is listed as 5th in the NBA for Defensive Rating (behind Dwight, KG, Noah and Bogut)

Not a bad fall back to the Nene's of the world if you ask me. They have a club option for 2012 but I was not certain if the money is there to exercise it. Thoughts?

Bulls will be hanging onto Taj. They love him. He's proved himself to be one of the best bench players in the league during the playoffs. Super efficient and great defender. As Boozer declines they'll be needing him more and more.

Hmm I don't know. He started 70 games for the bulls his rookie year. Solid rebounder, defender, shotblocker. He'd probably look pretty good next to Hibbert.

But we'd probably have to overpay, and he isn't big enough to log minutes at center.

    We didn't mention Carlos Boozer?

Chicago won't give him away with the way Boozer is playing. Not unless they get a great SG in return.

Personally, I'd take a Gibson/Patterson type over Nene for this team. Lesser name, less flash, but much better fit, much younger and low salary for now.

(Boozer is surely available, though, if you want a Bull )

Gibson + Watson + picks for Danny Granger?

Pacers get legitimate defensive four and point guard, Bulls have offensive firepower to win championship for next half decade.

Overpay? For what? I understand that for players of a certain caliber, but Taj Gibson and overpay should never be mentioned in the same sentence, unless preceded by the words 'Pacers refused to'.

Don't you see a bit of a problem with giving the Bulls enough offensive firepower to win the championship for the next half decade?

As in, it'd have to be a hell of a contract to pull him away from the Bulls. But I was thinking he'd be an RFA this year. We'd have to acquire him in trade. So he's not gonna be on the team next year.

What does Watson bring that we don't already have at the 1?

Horrible deal for us. Gibson's value isn't anywhere near that high. He's proven to be a solid backup, nothing more.

There's talk Chicago wanted Mayo at the deadline, and that Gibson was involved. The most realistic scenario I can come up with is a three-way-deal that sends Mayo to Chicago, Gibson here and we send something to Memphis (#15 & Rush?). I'd probably prefer we just keep Mayo in such a scenario, but I'm sure others would prefer the front court addition.

Better backup than AJ and that's about it. Absurd trade idea.

Last year as a rookie full time starter he was 9 and 7.5. He's consistently more effective for the Bulls than Boozer who's paid 8 times as much.

Defense, decision making in the second unit, can play the two in some line-ups.

It'd have to be a three way somehow to make the salaries match up. I don't really care about trading in division. If you're gonna trade, get what you can get.

At this point, we'd probably have a better shot at getting Boozer over here.

And you don't think we can get better for Granger than Taj Gibson and CJ Watson?

I think that overall Taj has been better than Boozer for them in the playoffs.

I think that Boozer is the biggest let down on that team. He is supposed to be their second best player and the guy who scores when Derrick Rose is struggling. Boozer has not been that guy like they need him too. Often times he is their 4th-5th best player during games.

Why would we want to give Granger to the only team that's better than us in our Division?

Not that we're likely any time soon to be taking over the #1 spot in the Central, but I really don't like the idea of giving them our best player while we get back 2 bench players.

    Pass. Big time.
Stop quoting people I have on ignore!
