    Didn't I already acknowledge this?
I guess a reply of "yes, I'm talking about two seperate but simultaneous trades" would have sufficed then.

But I want the conversation to be as clear as possible, because aaron has already started to shift the conversation from saying they can't make the proposed trade to asking why would they want too.

League minimum? I heard from a well placed source that McBob is going to sign for the MLE!

Seriously doubt it, but we shall see? Only way he gets over minimum is if Bird negotiates against himself to re-sign the kid.

If Memphis wants either guy, they will just extend a league minimum guaranteed contract to procure their services.
Because the Griz are flirting with the salary cap and they still need to re-sign both Battier and Gasol.

By doing a S&T, they can go over the cap.

You can go over the cap to sign guys for league minimum. There is actually an MLE and a partial exemption under the current CBA.

That Cleveland offer to Memphis, if true, is either insulting or stupid. Maybe both.

As far as any of this pertains to our own team, I say that if the top 2 picks hold so little value to Cleveland and Minny, then we should try to see what the price really is to get one of them. Its probably more than we'd want to pay. Irving and Williams seem like they'll be great, but I wouldn't be interested in any pick that wasn't guaranteed to get the Pacers one of those two guys.

How far up the draft could the Pacers get by offering Tyler and the number 15 pick?

Charlotte would have to take that, so at least 9. How much further I'm not sure.

I wouldn't call this completely insulting. Kanter or Williams could still be there, after hearing that Minnisota might draft Bismack with No. 2 and Jazz with Knight at No. 3. Any pick lower than #4 would be insulting.

    Williams? Derrick Williams???

There is absolutely ZERO chance that he gets past the #2 pick, regardless of who owns the pick.

You know Jmac would have had 40 and 20.

I'm not sure. He makes so little sense for Minnie at 2 or Utah at 3, unless they are completely confident he's better than anyone else.

If teams aren't convinced that Derrick is a star, it makes so much more sense for Minnie to get Kanter/Leonard and Utah Brandon Knight/Leonard/Kemba.

Not when you want to include multiple players, unless you're talking about making two, separate, simultaneous trades with the same team.
That's why the Pacers had to do 2 separate deals in the S&T for Harrington plus Edwards when they traded the TE and #11 pick to Atalnta. Oh how I hated that deal/trade! I never wanted the Mr. Stats/Blackhole back again. That half season rental of Harrington helped bring about the GS trade and 2 albatross contracts for 4 years. Grrr.

My goal with that possible offer would to be to get above Detroit and go after Biyombo.
The only other player the Pacers could offer would be George and 15.

I agree McBob won't get current MLE money. We've had a thread b4 on this exact subject. Personally, I have doubts there will even be a MLE in the new CBA, and if there should be it won't be close to the current MLE salary.

I would trade Granger for Gay and Mayo straight up. We get two young players to build with. Memphis sheds salary and gets the best player in the deal. No way I give up #15 along with DG, unless it is determined the pick will be a waste.

He could play center or PF.

Maybe we could get them to throw in Z-Bo and 8 1st round picks too?

After reading your post my initial reaction was Granger isn't worth Gay and Mayo and it's a homer trade for the Pacers. After thinking about it in terms of it saving Memphis 8 mil to apply in re-signing Gasol, it has some validity. Not only does it save Memphis 8 mil next year Memphis would save an additional 25 mil difference between Gay and Granger's contract. Granger gives them a B type player in return to help go forward.

Once I comtemplate this trade, I'm not sure the Pacers want to take on 25 mil and the extra length of Gay's contract. The trade now looks more in Memphis' favor due to the extra salary and having to re-sign Mayo in the future. If the Pacers don't/can't re-sign Mayo, he just becomes a rental and the trade is really Granger for Gay and his extra 25 mil salary. As much as I like Gay, I'm not sure it's worth it.

Thanks for the acknowledgement. I felt the same way you did at first but then I realized that a winner in a trade is usually the one who gets the best player which no doubt is Memphis. They also get to reduce salary by $33 million. If the Pacers are going to take on the extra $$$, then Memphis will have to add something else. Why not Mayo? He sat the bench half the year anyway.

The more I read about this Enes Kanter kid they more I think the Pacers need to pull out all the stops to get him. Dude apparently is the most physically fit big man of recent memory at the draft combine. He was only one of 5 players who lasted more than 21 minutes on the tread mill test. The only big man on the list infact. I think Pacer need to think about getting the #4 from Cleveland. If he is there. Kanter would make Roy expendable. We could then flip Roy to warriors for Monta. Warriors want a legit center I hear. Send Danny to Cleveland for the #4 and Anderson Verajao?

    Collison/Price/Lance
    Monta/Jones/Rush
    George/Rush
    Kanter/ Hansbrough
    Verajao/ Foster
