    Default Al Jefferson

With Utah in a clear rebuild mode what do you think it would take to aquire Al Jeff from them? I don't know the numbers but I do remember utah getting him still under contract from minny. I could be wrong if I am my bad, but he'd look great next to roy at the 4. And he can actually gaurd pf's, centers were his problem.

I'd have to be sold on his defense. I love his offense.

I'm iffy. He's just what we need on offense and on the boards, but extremely ehhhhh about his defense and especially energy.

I feel you, but you gotta take into account that playing in that craphole would make anyone halfass it. (Minny). When I watched him play with utah he seemed more focused until dwill left, I kinda don't blame him.

    Idk, I just can't pass up a 20/10 big.

This, except for Jefferson is more of a 22/13 guy which makes it even harder to pass up.. He is extremely talented and he has an old school, throwback game. Can play back to basket, pick and roll, faceup, mid range. He has plenty of size too.

Jefferson is insanely productive for only having one post move. He's pretty slow and if we played him next to Roy we'd get absolutely destroyed by quick front courts.

But man it'd be nice to balance our perimeter talent with someone who can manufacture easy points inside. From the stuff I've read about him he's also a great teammate and person so that's a plus too.

You can't play Jefferson and Roy together.

I'd gladly offer Roy + #15 for Jefferson though.

i'd take jefferson. something lost in many of these discussions is that as players age and mature as basketball players, they tend to focus more on their deficiencies and focus on what it takes to win as a team. jefferson is only 26, but will be a 7th year player, i believe, making him a vet. being on the losing teams he has, i feel he'd really look to take a big step in improving his d and being a great pf for us if we indeed dealt for him... a guy like blatche on the other hand might have more overall talent, but i still think he's a few years off from maturing as a player.

While I'm not sure if Roy and Jefferson can play together- I know its not a good fit but I wouldn't call the combination unplayable together- IF we get Jefferson and keep Hibbert I think we could be Grizz East. We would be able to pound teams down low with Jefferson and Hibbert like a Randolph/Gasol combo. We'd have the rudy gay/granger and conley/collison comparisons, and then george/jones as our wing stoppers like battier/allen.

I'm still 100% in the camp that we get Jefferson. It's a move that makes total sense.

Jefferson is a incredible post player, but he didn't fit in any team because his awful defense. That is a hugeee red flag.

Jefferson would not be my first choice, maybe not even in my top 5 but I'd be happy to have him.
Too much is made on this board about the speed of our front court. Which is another way of saying that we need to stay small. Dale and Rick weren't a fast front court and Dale didn't have much of an outside shot but that worked out pretty well for us.
Al can absolutely play beside Roy, so can Nene, or Gasol, or even Kaman. We need size in the paint more then we need speed.

Before we get too hyped up (as usual), is there a reason Utah would trade him?

Why does anyone think he is available?

Jefferson is someone I'd be extremely torn on. Part of me wonders though if he's the type of player we're gonna have to take a chance on.

Al Jefferson is slated to earn $14 million in 2011-12 and $15 million is 2012-13.

Who are the Pacers going to trade to match salaries?

I guess they could just trade a future 1st round pick and absorb his salary but I would think that the Jazz would also want Roy Hibbert or Tyler Hansbrough thrown into the deal.

I'd do a Tyler + future 1st pick for Al Jefferson deal but wouldn't like to trade Hibbert. I guess if it came down to it, I'd agree to trade Hibbert if I knew for certain that I could get a replacement center on the team that was a good rebounder and shot-blocker. Also if the Pacers know that Stanko is going to join the team, that might make it easier to pull the trigger on this deal and part with big Roy.

Larry is not coming back, he didn't have a meeting with Orlando for not reason, yeah he is coming back to the NBA but not to the Pacers, the notion that he is a taking a year off and then come back is absurd.

We don't have to match salaries this year. We could trade Hansbrough and a first for Jefferson (Just as an example) and it would work financially.
