I think I've only seen 2 episodes of this show.... So maybe I just didn't 'get it' but I thought the funeral scene was tacky, mostly not funny when it tried to be, and in very poor taste.

It wasn't that bad. They just tried to fit too much info in 30 minutes. I still expect it to be funny as the show gets going.

That show was never funny. Now, it is aggressively unfunny. Fail.

I didn't think it was that bad. It was a set up show. They got everything out of the way, Charlie's death, who the hell Ashton Kutcher is, and the house. And thats what the episode was meant to be.

I just don't think the show has ever been even remotely funny. All the jokes seem really predictable and I hate laugh tracks. So I might be a bit biased.

    I like Ashton's character.

That could just be the shallow side of me talking. But I found his character to be charming, and a little different than the type of humor he usually goes for.

But I also thought some of the jokes were forced.

Truthfully, I'm simply hoping for more lines for Ryan Stiles.

It's one of those shows that you either get or you don't. While it's not the greatest show in the world, I enjoy it. Simple fun. Surprised as to how good the episode was considering as mentioned earlier it was the set-up episode.

Ashton fits well with his character. He's basically a rich Kelso.

I always thought the show was worth plenty of laughs when Sheen was on it. It might not be the funniest show ever and no one is ever going to say that it was Seinfeld or Cheers, but it was worth plenty of laughs.

I thought the Kutcher episode sucked though. Everything revolved around Charlie's drunk bachelor lifestyle and that's what made Cryer and the kid funny. Now it's just going to be goofy and as Day-V said, it was like watching Kelso. Only I don't think that's a good thing. It was awkward.

This show is about to be mauled and spit out by a shark.

    Exactly.

Charlie is what created the humorous situation. The nerdy brother has to move with his kid into the house of his rich drunk brother who gets a bunch of woman. That is what created comedy.

Now it's basically Kelso, Jon Cryer, and an 18 year old kid who isn't quite as funny as he used to be.

Stick a fork in the show.

What's not to get? It's a very simple, age-old sitcom template they are using. Nothing groundbreaking there. No jokes that are too sophisticated or above anyone's heads. It's not a niche type of humor. It's just a show some people find funny and others don't. I "get" the show fine, I just don't like it.

I agree with this. I've only watched a few episodes and bits and pieces of others, but to me, he has always been the funniest part of the show.

Wait a second . . . I've never watched the show, so I don't know, but are you guys saying that Charlie was the "straight" man in this comedy act? Because that would be really ironic.

Stick a fork in it? Really, after just the set up show? Come on now, give it a couple of episodes to figure out what works and doesn't. They replaced the main character ffs, its not gonna be perfect right off the bat.

That's pretty much what I meant. You either think it's funny or it's not. Sheesh.

I always thought the side characters were the funniest.

The maid, Jane Lynch, Ryan Stiles and the Wife, the Mother (especially) heck I thought the kid was often the funniest of the three.

I liked the chemistry between Allen and Sheen. But they really didn't make me laugh like some of the other characters.

I do kinda disagree about Ashton's character being Kelso. They're both kind of dumb. But I see this character as being sort of a sedated quiet naive guy. Whereas Kelso (<3) was loud and obnoxious.

I loved it. The funeral scene got quite annoying when they kept interrupting him, but other than that, I thought it was great.

I think the new character has a few more brain cells than Kelso did. Not too many more, but I do see some differences so far.

Obviously the character is going to be smarter than Kelso. He said he made his money by creating a competitor to the Ipod, and when Alan makes the comment that alcohol makes him feel tall, good looking, and smart he replies, "I am tall, good looking, and smart."

I thought the episode was fine. The only thing that I would have left out was the multiple jokes about how big his **** is. I think we got the point after the first one, no reason to make it weird.

If you weren't a fan before, I doubt you'll be a fan now.

The problem I see with Kutcher's character is that, so far, he appears to be a hybrid of Alan (awkward) and Jake (clueless). We really don't need a second version of either of those characters.

I dont think we really know the first thing about who his character will be. To me it seems like they want him to grow from Alan and Jake into Charlie.
