Default Oprah Winfrey has NBA Playoff Schedule changed

Oprah Winfrey has more power than commissioner David Stern. The queen of daytime talk has forced the NBA to change its upcoming playoff schedule. The MIAMI HERALD reports that should the Bulls and Heat win their series in six games or fewer, they’ll have to change the schedule because of Oprah.

The NBA informed a few involved parties before Tuesday’s Bulls game that if the Heat and Chicago win their series in six games or fewer, Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals would need to be moved from Monday to Sunday night because the United Center likely is unavailable Monday to allow Oprah Winfrey’s crew to set up for the taping of one of her final shows. If the Heat or Bulls series go seven games, Game 1 of the Eastern finals would be Wednesday.

meh. A previously scheduled event always trumps the playoff scheduling.

Yeah, the title makes it seem like Oprah forced the NBA to change tomorrows schedule or something that is already set in stone.

This is pretty much making a mountain out of a molehill. Previously scheduled events take precedence, it's not new and is a principle that operates independently of Oprah. But I guess the author acknowledged that there'd be no story, eh?

You may not remember this despite it happening two years ago but during the WCF between the Lakers/Nuggets there was a WWF that was scheduled first at the Pepsi Center signed contract and everything set up months in advance actually.

However Kroenke didn't care and wanted the WWF out of there but McMahon said no I signed a contract first and he even put out a video saying that its Kroenke's fault for the lack of faith he has in his team for not thinking ahead that the Nuggets may get to the WCF since they were a playoff team.

In the end the WCF took place as planned and the WWF event was moved to the Staples Center instead.

    Here the opposite happened.

Individual circumstances might vary, in that case it was clearly able to be moved to another national venue. Oprah wouldn't be able to be moved out of Chicago.

Whether the event could be moved or not would depend on the contract and the relationship between the first signer and the venue.

She got a president elected, so moving the NBA finals is a piece of cake.

Apparently, Oprah also had the Rapture schedule changed. But don't worry, Rapture fans...it's not the end of the world.

Hmm, they didn't change the NBA schedule for Vince McMahon. Guess she has more pull than him.

    Yes. Exactly.

I thank this by reply because I can't find the thank button. WWF > WCF.

I found the video(and its why I brought it up the WWE had to change their schedule for the playoffs but Oprah didn't have to despite both scheduled in advance)
