Default Derrick Rose wearing a walking boot today

Read that on Twitter earlier; figured someone would have mentioned it before I got back.

I'll try to find the tweet again; it was someone from the (not Indy) media.

    *edit*

Even better, a link to a story about it on ESPN Chicago:

    http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/nb...ory?id=6420239

    Nick Friedell
    ESPNChicago.com

A day after injuring his ankle in his team's first playoff loss, Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose arrived at Sunday's film session wearing a walking boot.

Rose did not participate in the shootaround after the team watched film. He is expected to get an MRI on Sunday afternoon and will be re-evaluated by team doctors at that time.

Rose turned his ankle driving to the basket late in the first quarter. He didn't appear to make contact with any other player.

"I really can't explain it," Rose said Saturday. "I just took off wrong and my weight just pushed over my ankle and it ended up twisting."

Rose had an X-ray following Saturday's loss to the Indiana Pacers, and results were negative.

Even if this only slows him down by 10%, this could be huge.

It already has been huge! Rose did not move that well the rest of the game yesterday. Not as much attacking, not as much lift in his leaping ability (see: DC blocking his layup).

You can play on adrenaline after spraining your ankle but after an extended period of immobility it will swell and stiffen considerably.

I would expect him to not be 100% on Tuesday.

Pretty standard next-day swelling probably. I expect him to be ready to go for Game 5, and I hope the Pacers are preparing for a focused and motivated Rose, fully healthy or not.

Never like to see players injured and I hope he is ok, but if he were to play it safe and sit out a game or two. I would be ok with that.

Rose will have an MRI later, which tells more than X-rays. He's a tough one and will want to play, but if he does I assume he's limited some

A walking boot? What, did Paul Pierce take all the wheelchairs?

I'd rather play them with their best player intact, because anything from now on will be excuse city, but also because we know what it feels like to have your team changed by injuries.

Although, I do expect the league to make some new rules about opposing teams leaving footprints on the basketball floor that star players can slip on - maybe make it a technical foul or something...

Screw that - I want to win. We've already proven we can hang with these guys at full strength, anyway.

Look at it as a way to offset all the unfair advantages the Bulls already have on us.

Sissy. He's just milking in and putting in a built in excuse for his crappy performances.

Plumlee reminds me of a young Dale Davis. Good rebounding and he contests shots well on defense and his offensive game is very raw just like DD's was coming out of college.

I'm half on Bills side, half on Shade's side. Obviously we'll take any advantage we can get, especially on the road. That said, we know we can beat this team. We'll see what the reports say Monday/Tuesday morning.

It did affect his game on Saturday. I don't think we will have the same benefit Tuesday. He will probably be fine and almost 100%.
We just need to continue to do the same with him as we did in the last 2 games. If we can keep it together in the fourth we have a good chance of pushing to game 6. We are a young team that hopefully has learned a lot in this series especially in the last 2 minutes of game 4. Confidence will put us over the top and we can make this a series to go down in Pacers history.
I personally thought that an injury to Rose would mean us being in the second round. But now that he has a sprained ankle I do not want that to be the reason we advance.
We have played Rose good and we deserve the credit for that. I do not want this effort to be tainted due to an injury to an opposing superstar. We can succeed anyways. That's what I'm hoping for.

And? I didn't see that much pity from the Chicago fans when Boozer elbowed Hansbrough in the head.

Personally, I'm cheering on this injury .

How about we hold ourselves to a higher standard than the Chicago heathens?

It's way too early to really say what this could mean. It is likely precautionary and a step he was encouraged to take by the Chicago training staff. I'm sure it was sore and stiff this morning (TWSS) and was likely the reason he didn't take the shoe off during the game. It was clear he was limited upon his return, so it will be interesting to see how much it lingers.
