Dolphins WR Brandon Marshall stabbed; wife arrested on charges of aggravated battery
    by Ben Volin

    Michi Nogami-Campbell / Broward Sheriff's Office
The wife of Dolphins star receiver Brandon Marshall has been arrested and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon after allegedly stabbing Marshall late Friday. Bond was set at $7,500 and she remains in jail this morning.

Marshall was hospitalized last night and sent to the intensive care unit after being stabbed.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Marshall was stabbed in the stomach, but no vital organs were pierced. Marshall’s best friend and former college teammate, Jaguars receiver Mike Sims-Walker, said on his Twitter account, “Brandon will be ok and is in good spirits preciate the prayers and concerns!”

“This is a very difficult time for Brandon and family,” his agent, Kennard McGuire, said in a statement. “Thankfully he will make a full recovery, we simply ask that his privacy is respected.”

The Dolphins released a comment Saturday morning, but could not say much because of the NFL lockout:

“We are aware of the report and our thoughts are with Brandon at this time. We will look into the matter, but because we are not allowed contact with our players, we will have no further comment at this time.”

For Marshall, this is the second scary injury he has endured during his five-year professional career. In March 2008, Marshall sustained right forearm lacerations to one artery, one vein, one nerve, two tendons and three muscles after crashing through a glass table while horsing around with a cousin at his home in Denver. Marshall eventually recovered, but later said he played the entire 2008 season with numbness in his right hand.

Marshall, 27, just completed his first year of a four-year, $47.5 million contract, with $24 million guaranteed, that he signed with Miami. The Dolphins gave up two second-round picks for him in a trade last April, and he responded with 87 catches for 1,014 yards and three touchdowns in 2010.

While he often found trouble in Denver — the forearm injury, a DUI arrest, several fights with his coaches, his involvement in a New Year’s Eve fight that led to the shooting death of Darrent Williams — last night’s stabbing was Marshall’s first incident since coming to Miami last April.

Marshall married his wife, formerly Michi Nogami-Campbell, last summer after the trade. The two had been college sweethearts at University of Central Florida. On March 1, 2009, Marshall was arrested in Atlanta for disorderly conduct after allegedly being involved in a fight with Nogami-Campbell, but the charges were dropped the next day.

Marshall purchased a $4.15 million home in Southwest Ranches in December.

Dolphins’ Brandon Marshall’s Wife Arrested After Violating Restraining Order

(Source: BSO) Michelle Nogami-Marshall, wife of Dolphin Brandon Marshall, is a mug shot taken by BSO after she was charged with aggravated battery.

? FORT LAUDERDALE (CBS4)- The wife of Miami Dolphin’s star wide receiver Brandon Marshall is back in jail Friday afternoon after she was accused of violating a judge’s order to stay away from her husband and the couple’s home.

Michi Nogami-Marshall, 27, violated a restraining order tied to an incident in April in which police said she stabbed her husband, the police report said.

“Clearly, the arrest today — based on her actions — she had to be taken into custody because she violated a court order,” said BSO spokesperson Veda Coleman-Wright.

Michi Marshall was arrested and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon on Friday, April 22, 2011 after she was accused of stabbing the football player at their Southwest Ranches home, according to the police report.

According to this arrest report, Michi Marshall told deputies she was living in the couple’s home while Marshall was out of town.

When Brandon Marshall returned home there was a “verbal dispute” — according to the arrest report — and someone placed the call to 911 then hung up.

Deputies responded and arrested Michi Marshall around 10 a.m.

Investigators said there was no sign of physical violence.

She was arrested for violating a judge’s order to stay 500 feet away from the couple’s home, and to not have contact with Brandon Marshall.

Brandon Marshall was in intensive care the morning after the incident, but was released from the hospital by 3 p.m. Saturday after surgery.

In April’s police report she indicated that she stabbed Marshall in self defense.

According to the arrest report, Michi Marshall “did unlawfully and intentionally arm herself with a kitchen knife and stab the victim in the abdomen.”

The NFL Network reported that Marshall also had defensive wounds on both of his hands, although that information was not included in the police report. The NFL Network cited a source close to the investigation.

BSO said when deputies arrived Friday the Marshall’s were not helpful.

“It seems as though the same thing that happened before once deputies arrive responding to a 911 call, neither one of the Marshall’s really want to cooperate,” Coleman-Wright said.

The Broward State Attorney’s Office said they continue to investigate the April 22 stabbing. However, in a statement, they made clear the case is encountering roadblocks.

The statement reads in part: “Despite numerous efforts, we so far have been unable to get Mr. Marshall to agree to voluntarily speak to our office about the incident. We continue to diligently pursue this matter.”

The couple was engaged on February 5, 2009, in Hawaii, according to hollywoodcelebgossips.com.

The report said that Brandon Marshall provided sworn testimony advising that he slipped and fell onto a broken glass vase, but the area of where the vase was broken “indicated no blood within the immediate area to substantiate his claim.”

Marshall, acquired by the Dolphins last April from the Denver Broncos to become their biggest offensive threat in 2010, led Miami in receiving yards with 1,014 despite missing two games with a hamstring injury.

    He has a five-year, $50 million contract.

Marshall, who wed Michi Marshall in 2010, has had a string of scrapes with the law in three states, repeated domestic disputes, contract squabbles, and petulant behavior during three years with the Denver Broncos.

It is not clear if Michi Marshall will be able to bond out of jail on Friday’s arrest.
